This is a fun easy listen from the creator of the Thrawn Trilogy. The Narrator does a phenomenal job jumping between voices. I thought the plot got a bit outlandish at times but this is Star Wars after all so you have to be expecting things to be a bit out there. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the movies.
Mary Higgins Clark delivers a great book. I am thrilled she is picking up where her last novel left off (I've Got You Under My Skin). Although this can be read as a stand alone I'd recommend reading the previous novel first. This novel is filled with the same great style of suspense and a great cast of characters. Its a who dun it that will keep you guessing until the end. Jan Maxwell does a fair performance Its not superb but its not bad either and I definitely prefer her to Barbara Rosenblat who also narrates several of the Mary Higgins Clark novels.
I have read everything Michael Connelly has ever published and so far this is probably my least favorite book. It lacks the suspense and resolution of his typical novels. To say I was disappointed with this most recent release would be a huge understatement. I also did not care for the narrator I found his voice tolerable but dull.
I have read a lot of Grisham's writing and generally find them to be fun suspenseful legal thrillers. This book is so far from his normal I was constantly waiting for it to pick up the pace. There is no resolution to the central conflict in this story and neither is there a really good mystery. And of the few mysteries that are in this novel the intriguing ones aren't solved. I cant remeber the last time I was this disappointed in a Novel. I have no real issue with the narrator I feel like she could only do so much with the book she was probably held at gunpoint and told to read for 14 hours.
I have recently discovered this author and I am trying to start with some of his older books. I really loved the way this story flowed. The overwhelming theme is that parents will go to extreme means to protect their children
I am really happy audible released this book and hope they release all the sequels I think there are 6. This book is an amazing piece of literature. It brings the revolutionary war to life from an unorthodox point of view. A wealth of great historical events and characters is included and this is really a phenomenal book by a well seasoned author.
I have read or listened to every one of the Dismas Hardy novels, along with most of John Lescroarts other books. In the past several novels there has been an absence of real substance. This book is written with the same zeal and character driven plot that his older books were and in that it excels. Its full of interesting little ethical questions and conundrums, along with a great story. You wont be disappointed with this book. Just like all of the other Hardy novels this one will twist and turn and throw you off your seat every time you think you've got something figured out.
This book is a bit different from previous MHC novels but different isn't necessarily bad. I felt like this was an interesting twist on classic who dunnits. The book itself reminded me a lot of the Agatha Christie novel Taken at the Flood. Fans of either writer should give this book a shot. I liked it a lot and found myself trying to find a similar book to read after I had finished this one.
I actually just finished reading this novel when I saw that it was available on audible and I just had to listen to it. This is a grand story and it will fill your head with so much early World War II history that you will find yourself in awe of the authors ability to weave a complex story amongst all of the real life history.
If your a world war II history fan this book is for you. Its chalk full of all kinds of great history and the author ties in the real with the fictitious with the skill of a chess grand master. The narration is spot on and really brings Wouks masterpiece to life. This Book is Epic in scope and for just one credit well worth your time.
