Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004, Wangari Maathai has been fighting for environmental responsibility and democracy in her native Kenya for over 35 years. Unbowed recounts the incredible journey that culminated in her appointment to Parliament in 2002. Despite repeated jailings, beatings, and other obstacles along the way, Maathai created the Green Belt Movement and never relented in her goal to bring democracy to Kenya.

Would you consider the audio edition of Unbowed to be better than the print version?

Didn't "read" a hard copy (I love my Kindle and listening to books), but the clearly female African voice made the book that much more conversational.

What does Chinasa Ogbuagu bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As noted above, the realism of the reader's voice makes the story much more personal.

A dangerous, homeless drifter who grew up picking cotton in virtual slavery. An upscale art dealer accustomed to the world of Armani and Chanel. A gutsy woman with a stubborn dream. A story so incredible no novelist would dare dream it.

The Gospel costs nothing. You can't earn it or buy it. It can only be received as a free gift compliments of God's grace. It doesn't cost anything, but it demands everything. It demands that we go "all in," a term that simply means placing all that you have into God's hands. Pushing it all in. And that's where we get stuck - spiritual no man's land. We're afraid that if we go all in that we might miss out on what this life has to offer. It's not true. The only thing you'll miss out on is everything God has to offer. And the good news is this: if you don't hold out on God, God won't hold out on you.

If you could sum up All In in three words, what would they be?

    So, now what ? ! ?

What does Van Tracy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Great voice

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh or cry ? yes to both

    Any additional comments?

This is an excellent "follow-up" to Circle Maker, i.e. now that you know what you know, what will you do about it ? Are you "All IN" or what ?
