The school year is almost over. Anxious families await word of college acceptances. In these last pressure-cooker months of high school, some kids will make the all-too-common and all-too-dangerous mistake of drinking and driving. But Myron is determined to help keep his friends' children safe, so he makes two neighborhood girls promise him: If they are ever in a bind but are afraid to call their parents, they must call him.

Robert E. Scarcelle says: "Weak Effort"
    "Beware of Narrator"
    Overall

Boy do I feel foolish. I should have read the reviews before purchasing this book. I love Coben's work so I clicked with trust and anticipation. Absolutely the worst narration I have ever heard. It actually grates on you.
What was he thinking narrating his own book?
    Color me cautious and unhappy!

In this fast-paced story, a treacherous path from Scarpetta's past merges with the high tech highway she now finds herself on. We travel back to the beginning of her professional career, when she enlisted in the Air Force to pay off her medical school debt and found herself ensnared in a gruesome case of what seemed to be vicious, racially motivated hate crimes against two Americans in South Africa.

    Terry says: "once again angry"
    "Port Disappointed"
    Overall

There is no bigger Cornwell fan than I, and it truly pains me to pan this latest Scarpetta novel. When did Scarpetta become a paranoid whinner? Hour after hour that is all she does. It wears you out. All the wonderful characters that Cornwell created for the Scarpetta novels are ignored in this latest work. Every now and then you hear from Marino, Benton or Lucy, otherwise it is all Scarpetta droning on and on about the sky falling. Very disappointed. Take a pass on this one and preserve your recollection of one of the better mystery characters... K. Scarpetta, M.D.

Constance Leidl and Charlie Meiklejohn are an unlikely pair of detectives. He is a former arson detective; she is a psychologist. Together, the husband-and-wife team has a knack for unraveling a mystery. "Seven Kinds of Death" is a famous sculpture, but the name takes on new meaning when bodies start turning up at the creator's art colony.

Whoa, please tell me my favorite author didn't write this dog. I couldn't wait for this book to end. The characters were annoying and plentiful. If you want to be dragged around an art colony by your ankles sign up for this embarrassment. Kate shall return.

In 1993, Marie Gesto disappeared after walking out of a supermarket. Harry Bosch worked the case but couldn't crack it, and the 22-year-old was never found. Now, more than a decade later, with the Gesto file still on his desk, Bosch gets a call from the district attorney. A man accused of two heinous murders is willing to come clean about several others, including the killing of Marie Gesto.

Joel says: "Another excellent Connelly novel."

From first page to last, a highly gripping mystery of the highest order. Well written, well read, just a total pleasure.
