Charlotte owns a Birmingham bridal boutique. But with her own wedding day approaching, why can’t she find the perfect dress - or feel certain she should marry Tim? Then Charlotte purchases a vintage dress in a battered trunk at an estate sale. It looks brand-new, shimmering with pearls and satin, hand stitched and timeless in its design. But where did it come from? Who wore it? Charlotte’s search for the gown’s history begins as a distraction from her sputtering love life. But it takes on a life of its own as she comes to know the women who have worn the dress.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe I would recommend this book becuase is very easy. But the story is so simple... sometimes it seems to force the characters and events to keep in line, but even then, the story feels uncomplete. As if there is something missing.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Well... If there were and actual romance... but it is just about an insecure woman who is reluctant to get married...

A young reporter on assignment from the San Francisco Observer... An older woman welcoming him into her magnificent family home that he has been sent to write about and that she must sell with some urgency... A chance encounter between two unlikely people... An idyllic night - shattered by horrific unimaginable violence, the young man inexplicably attacked - bitten - by a beast he cannot see in the rural darkness....

What did you like best about this story?

Anne Rice is back to what she does best: writing fantasy-horror-gothic-novels. From the mythical creatures, I think werewolves were just the one missing, but she wrote about them and she success on it.
The way she describes the murders, the hunger, the anxiety... I loved it. And, as usual, she created a whole new background for the werewolf myth.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Even when sometimes the story is a little slow, I must say it kept me on the edge of my seat. There is a moment when I thought Rice get stuck, but she resolved it perfectly.

Assertions like these seem comical until you realize that many Christian parents aren't kidding when they teach them to their children as facts. Every day, impressionable young minds are conditioned to blindly accept wild biblical tales of floating zoos, talking shrubbery, 900-year-old humans, the undead, curses, levitation, demon/human hybrids and men who obtain super-human strength from the length of their hair. Allegiance to these teachings is expected, often demanded.

"An amazing journey through Seth Andrew's life."
