After centuries of stasis, the island kingdom of Charis began to defy the edicts of the Church of God Awaiting - egged on, some say, by the mysterious warrior-monk Merlin Athawes. Now, in the wars and intrigues that have cascaded from Charis's declaration of independence, the populous Republic of Siddermark is sliding into chaos.

What did you like best about this story?

I thought it had a good storyline. I liked the budding romance between Hektor and Irys.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kevin T. Collins’s performances?

NO, I wouldn't want to listen to another narration by Kevin T. Collins. I found his voice whiney and extremely annoying at times especially with the misprounciation of names and words as established in previous books of this series. It got a little better as the story continued or else I became more innured to his presentation.

By the 30th Century, conditions on earth had become hopeless. A quantum leap in life extension, once thought to be man's ultimate salvation, instead produced over-population, plague and famine...and eventually, complete social collapse.
