In this exclusive audio publishing event, Billy Collins, former U.S. Poet Laureate, shares an evening of his poetry in a benefit reading for WNYC, New York Public Radio. Often compared to Robert Frost, his poetry has been embraced by people of all ages and backgrounds, and his readings are most often standing room only.

Fascinating listening. Funny, brilliant, tongue-in-cheek. This is a guy that I would love to have dinner with, or have as a friend. Sparkling intimate readings; as if he were reading just for me. Billy Collins never disappoints.

Our hero is Jack McEvoy, a Rocky Mountain News crime-beat reporter. As the story opens, Jack's twin brother, a Denver homicide detective, has just killed himself. Or so it seems. But when Jack begins to investigate the phenomenon of police suicides, a disturbing pattern emerges, and soon suspects that a serial murderer is at work.

I had read this story number of years ago and had forgotten that i had read it! It was a great story then, and it still is. Thanks to Audible's return policy, I'll be able to correct that error. Michael Connelly just doesn't disappoint.

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

What fun! Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi were made for each other. When I want to really relax on a long drive (my job is high stress; high focus) this is a great combo. The stories rarely disappoint. I admit that a time or two Ms. Ronconi's voice can be too much; but, it was in part the material, too. But for just a fun "read" you can't miss here.

Oh, yeah, this was a good effort. Worth buying.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Not my cup of tea...I considered not writing a review; but it may give another potential listener helpful information; no one likes to see a negative review. I had trouble with the layer of fantasy on such a well known public figure. I concede that the trouble could be with the listener; but, frankly, I wasn't even interested in finishing it. This from a Sookie Stackhouse fan....

Caelen McCabe's young, reckless heart nearly destroyed his clan. Now, putting family loyalty above all else, he steps up to marry his older brother's jilted bride and salvage the uneasy alliance between two clans. While beautiful Rionna McDonald is a fit wife for any man, Caelen trusts no woman, especially not this sweet temptress who torments him with white-hot longing. As the sacrificial lamb in her father's power game, Rionna will do her duty but vows to protect her heart and her pride from humiliation.

    Story

If you don't like somewhat graphic sex in your romance novels you won't like Maya Banks. This story is well-told. Kirsten Potter brought it alive and made the heroine believable and likable. Well, I am a sucker for the accent! This story interestingly seemed to be more realistic in terms of the lengths to which men will go to attain power; maybe not just men. But this story is about clan politics and character, or the lack thereof. I recommend it with the aforementioned caveat.

Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: "You got the wrong guy". Then he says: "Get Reacher for me". And sure enough, from the world he lives in - no phone, no address, no commitments - ex-military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. In Lee Child's astonishing thriller, Reacher's arrival will change everything - about a case that isn't what it seems, about lives tangled in baffling ways, about a killer who missed one shot - and by doing so gives Jack Reacher one shot at the truth.

This is not generally the type of book I go for, but thought I would try. Couldn't stop listening! Did it matter that it was farfetched? No. Reacher will save the day, no matter what the odds. Some books are written, this one was crafted. Reacher has character that we all strive to achieve. This won't be my last Reacher book. Dick Hill does an amazing job with the characters.

A woman has vanished while digging a dinosaur bone bed in the remote wilderness of Canada. Somehow, the only evidence has made its way to the inbox of Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta, over 2,000 miles away, in Boston. She has no idea why. But as events unfold with alarming speed, Scarpetta begins to suspect that the paleontologist's disappearance is connected to a series of crimes - much closer to home: a gruesome murder, inexplicable tortures, and trace evidence from the last living creatures of the dinosaur age.

    G. House Sr. says: "A tedious disappointment - Don't Bother!"

    Story

This is a hard review to write because I really enjoy Kay Scarpetta books. But there were times when the narrator's condescending tone was truly annoying because that's not how I see Ms. Scarpetta. The tone was just plain wrong in places. Maybe it is because I'm a professional myself and idenify with Scarpetta. When others around me don't understand what I'm doing or why I'm doing it, I know I don't "look down my nose" at them. The annoying tone abated as the book went on, but it really was a serious problem for me. Perhaps others disagree.

Once a devoted children's librarian, Jane Jameson now works at a rundown occult bookstore. Once a regular gal, she's now a vampire. And instead of a bride, she's an eternal bridesmaid -- which leads her to question where exactly her relationship with her irresistibly sexy sire, Gabriel, is headed. Mercurial, enigmatic, apparently commitment-phobic vampires are nothing if not hard to read.

    Story

I like Amanda Ronconi's voice, I really do. But, this book is just... whiny. Parts of the book move really well and other parts are like nails on a blackboard. I think there is just too much "Jane in her head". Ms. Harper just hasn't made me care about most of these characters and I'm willing. This is escape literature for me; so, although, I'm almost finished with it, it is a chore. I will keep trying though...
