What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The narration was too jerky, this may just be a personal preference, but I couldnt listen long to his pauses in odd spaces. Ive always loved HG Wells' stories, but couldnt take this narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of H.G. Wells Science Fiction Collection?

I love HG Wells' stories, but couldnt listen to this collection.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

    no

Here on Earth, Danny North is still in high school, yet he holds in his heart and mind all the stolen outselves of 13 centuries of gatemages. The Families still want to kill him if they can’t control him - and they can’t control him; he is far too powerful. On Westil, Wad is now nearly powerless - he lost everything to Danny in their struggle. Even if he can survive the revenge of his enemies, he must still somehow make peace with the Gatemage Daniel North, for when Danny took that power from Loki, he also took responsibility for the Great Gates.

If you could sum up The Gate Thief in three words, what would they be?

    intriguing characters

What other book might you compare The Gate Thief to and why?

    Ender,s game, The Red Pyramid

    Which scene was your favorite?

Havent completed this book yet. Have read the first in a series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I drive a truck at night, and spend 9-10 hours behind the wheel. Sometimes I listen in one sitting and sometimes listen to other podcasts with this interspersed.

    Any additional comments?

This is a great story. And the way the story is setup, you really dont have to have read the first book to understand what's going on. It explains everything you need to know and keeps it brief enough to not bore anyone who has read the first book. But it gives you a little more background reading the first book.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I dont know. I loved the Mistborn series, but I couldnt get into the storyline here. It may be that the character names and towns are too hard to remember. They have 3 syllable names and I coulndt really enjoy the story. I drive a truck, and am driving 9-10 hrs every night, so I enjoy listening to audiobooks.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I will probably check out Brandon Sanderson again, for I like most of his writings.

What about Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s performance did you like?

The performance of the voice talent is great. I had no problem with their part.

What character would you cut from The Way of Kings?

No characters, but maybe just make the names easier to remember. I had no problem with the Mistborn novels, but most of these were 2 syllable names and easier to remember.

    Any additional comments?

It may be me, but I couldnt get into the story because of the names. I may be just too dumb to understand and remember these names.
