I agree with Linda of Dumont NJ. There were just too many characters and too many vignettes. It was very easy for me to put down. I've enjoy Binchy books in the past but this one left me confused and tired of listening and trying to figure out...now who is this character and how are they related to the hotel and the story.
If it wasn't for Rosalyn Landor, it would have been rated 1 star throughout for me.
It was very annoying to try to hear this book. No matter what listening device I tried, the sound was foggy. I even re-downloaded it thinking perhaps there was a problem when I downloaded it initially but nothing worked. Purchase it at your own listening peril.
As I was reading this book I constantly related it to Princess Diana, not realizing that there was in fact a Sisi in history. Surprising how their lives compared. The author did a good job holding my attention.
I liked this book. I continued to look forward to finding out "what happened" as I read through it. I don't know if anyone else noticed that the narrator pronounces the word "grimace" with a long "a". It really rubbed me the wrong way. It seemed that the word must have appeared at least 50 times in the book and I noticed each of the 50 times that she mispronounced it. And it wasn't because she's British because other British narrators pronounce it with a short "a". I tolerated the book anyway because of the good story.
As usual, I couldn't put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a very good story and I especially liked that she didn't draw it out for several more hours.
I typically focus on long books but with slight hesitation because sometimes they're boring. This one didn't really get good until Part 2. Part 1 was slow. I did finish it and it was tolerable.
And as usual, it was another very good Mary Balogh story. This was a great fairy tale but I couldn't put it down, so to speak. I loved it. Also enjoyed Roslyn Landor's performance. Great combination of author and narrator equals a great review.
Because I read a lot of books, I tend to encounter very similar plots. However, this one kept me guessing and I, like the main characters, enjoy a good puzzle, so it was fun following them through their logic and research as they fitted the pieces together.
I really like the different story line that this series takes. There's not only a murder mystery but also a treasure hunt mystery, if you will. It was a fun read.
This was another great Catherine Coulter book. It certainly held my interest. I couldn't put it down. Now I'm about to check out the next book in the series.
I loved this book. I just read it for the second time and still enjoyed it immensely. I read it initially in 2012.
