In an evocative and fast-paced adventure on the high seas and on a faraway island an orphan boy named Peter and his mysterious new friend, Molly, overcome bands of pirates and thieves in their quest to keep a fantastical secret safe and save the world from evil.

Deborah says: "A fast paced frolic on the high seas!"
"Great Book for the whole family"
    Overall

This was a great book. It took all the questions about how Peter became the boy who never grew up and answered them. It is read by the best narrator alive. My family and I loved it. Highly recommended.

Most dating books are written for women - what a mistake that is. Women know how to date....It's men who need the help! At last: a blithe, bold, and bawdy guide to building a better boyfriend.

    Marshall says: "Can't Stop Laughing"
    "Holy Cow big mistake"

If you follow the advise in this book you are a naive superficial little man!!

In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close. The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.

Melise says: "Scary, but interesting for both adults and kids"
"Great parody of how we look at life all wrong"
    Overall

I thought it well written and the reader was excellent. Coraline though a little dark was well worth the listen. (What's up with the singing mice?)

"To Build a Fire" is the best known of all London's stories. It tells the story of a new arrival to the Klondike who stubbornly ignores warnings about the folly of traveling alone. He falls through the ice into a creek in 70-below weather, and his survival depends on being able to build a fire and dry his clothes - which he is unable to do. The famous version of this story was published in 1908.

    Blizzard says: "Nothing to lose"
    "Maybe we are not invinsible"
    Overall

Loved it, very detailed writing for a short story. Highly recommended

It's Easter in Reading, a bad time for eggs, and no one can remember the last sunny day. Ovoid D-class nursery celebrity Humpty Stuyvesant Van Dumpty III, minor baronet, ex-convict, and former millionaire philanthropist, is found shattered to death beneath a wall in a shabby area of town. All the evidence points to his ex-wife, who has conveniently shot herself.

    Bruce Sabin says: "Total Whimsy"
"Never knew eggs were this entertaining"
    Overall

I really like Jaspers books and this is no exception. Nursery characters come to life in this not for kids book about the murder of an egg.

1972. The Munich Olympics. Palestinian members of the Black September group murder 11 Israeli athletes. Nine hundred million people watch the crisis unfold on television, witnessing a tragedy that inaugurates the modern age of terror.

Jody R. Nathan says: "History of the Israeli Secret Service"
    "Deep and dark"

This book was well researched. If you want to know what to expect when you cross the Jewish Nation this book will let you know. There is a reason why you don't mess with Israel. In the end you will not get a warm fuzzy feeling for having listened, but you will gain perspective.

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly 20 years ago.

    J says: "Really meaninful stuff."
"Classic story of living each day to is fullest"
    Overall

This book read by the author was very touching, I listed to it all in one siting. In the end, you guessed it... I cried. Great Great book.

Jane Austen's most popular novel, originally published in 1813, some 17 years after it was first written, presents the Bennet family of Longbourn. Against the background of gossipy Mrs. Bennet and the detached Mr. Bennet, the quest is on for husbands for the five daughters. The spotlight falls on Elizabeth, second eldest, who is courted by Darcy, though initially she is more concerned with the fate of her other sisters.

Marilyn Pearse says: "Pride and Prejudice"
    "Great work"
    Overall

I thought the narrator was first rate. This is the book to listen to for first time Jane Austen listeners. Fun Characters and morals. Mr Darcy truly takes getting beat-up verbally from a woman like a man, and like most verbal bashings of that kind he is misjudged by that woman.

Larry McMurtry's American epic, set in the late 19th century, tells the story of a cattle drive from Texas to Montana, a drive that represents not only a daring foolhardy adventure, but a part of the American Dream for everyone involved.

Richard Delman says: "A masterpiece. An epic western story."
"Loved it despite all the sexual references"

I loved the book and the movie. The narrator did a wonderful job. This was a very well written western novel with great characters. Highly recommended for adults only.

When Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon decide to spy on a presentation her uncle, the commanding Lord Asriel, is making to the elders of Jordan College they have no idea that they will become witnesses to an attempted murder, and even less that they are taking the first steps in a journey that will lead them into danger and adventure unlike anything Lyra's unfettered imagination has conjured up.

    Arnold says: "A Terrific Book"
    "The Jury is still deliberating"
    Overall

I thought the production was first rate. I thought the cast of characters were very good. The story was fast paced and interesting. I can see where the (supposed) anti-christian leaning my be construde but the same was said of Harry Potter. It may be abit in the young adult range rather than children reading however the cast performance will keep a childs attention.
