Yale professor Dr. Edward Kender’s father is undergoing chemotherapy when the supply of a critical accompanying drug, Culovort, suddenly runs out. Unwilling to accept the drug manufacturer’s disingenuous excuse of production line problems, Dr. Kender hires private investigator Erin Pulaski to prove that something more sinister is going on at Schiffer Hartwin.

    "Enjoyable, but not blown away"
    Overall

I love this series, I consider it one of my absolute favorites. I enjoyed this book, but wasn't as enthralled with it as I usually am. As a story, I could take it or leave it. I kind of wished I hadn't spent the money on this one, and waited until it came out in paperback.

A lot of the reviews I read complained about the narration so I debated about purchasing it, but I'm glad I did. I don't have a problem with the narration, sure when they do a little kid voice it's a little irritating, but thankfully that doesn't happen very often.

This was a nice continuation of the series, even if some parts may be a little predictable.

Sculptor Clare Kimball has captured the attention of the New York art world. But big-city success cannot burn away the half-remembered nightmares that have plagued Clare since childhood. These phantoms of the past have drawn her home to Emmitsboro, Maryland, to the small town where she grew up and where her father died in circumstances never really explained.

    "Shocking Ending"
    Overall

Here I thought I knew Nora Roberts books! This book is nothing like her past books that I've read. First there is the subject matter...which may be a little iffy for some, then the twist at the end. I wonder if this book will have a sequel?

In the summer of 1985, when she was fifteen, Eliza was kidnapped by Walter and held hostage for almost six weeks. He had killed at least one girl and Eliza always suspected he had other victims as well. Now on death row in Virginia for the rape and murder of his final victim, Walter seems to be making a heartfelt act of contrition as his execution nears. Though Eliza wants nothing to do with him, she's never forgotten that Walter was most unpredictable when ignored.

This is the first Laura Lipman booked that I've read. I enjoyed her character development, and her ability to blend the past with the present as she tells her story. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

"Loved the Story, Narration a Little Distracting"
    Overall

I really enjoyed this story line, had me interested from the beginning. The narration was distracting, I prefer when they have a woman reading the women's parts, and men reading the men's part. All in all a good listen though.

The events of a December afternoon, during which a father and his daughter find an abandoned infant in the snow, forever alter the 11-year-old girl's understanding of the world and the adults who inhabit it: a father who has taken great pains to remove himself from society in order to put an unthinkable tragedy behind him; a young woman who must live with the consequences of the terrible choices she has made; and a detective whose cleverness is exceeded only by his sense of justice.

This is the first book that I've read by this author. I really enjoyed this book, it captured my interest at the very beginning and held it until the end. The character development was very good, by the end of the book I felt that I knew the characters and felt empathy for all of them and the losses that they endured. I also appreciated the realistic ending which fit the story so well. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
