  • The Good, the Bad, and the Undead

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Kim Harrison
    • Narrated By Marguerite Gavin
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She has left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She's survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate, Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend - what more could a witch want? But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Im a guy who likes both vampires & detectives. My favorite author/character combo is Robert B. Parker's Spencer series. Im also an Ann Rice fan. This book I got on sale & the following book, Every which way but dead. I have to say it took awhile to get into the characters not having listen to the 1st book. But by half way though I was very interested in where the book was going & all the new type of character that she added to the vampire genre. By the end of the book I was hooked & I went directly to the 3rd book. I love following a character's growth through a serious of books. Im going to enjoy these character's and this serious. • No Such Thing As Werewolves

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Chris Fox
    • Narrated By Ryan Kennard Burke
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A pyramid predating all known cultures appears without warning. Its discovery throws into question everything we know about the origins of mankind. Inside lies incredible technology, proof of a culture far more advanced than our own. Something dark lurks within, eager to resume a war as old as mankind. When it is unleashed it heralds the end of our species’ reign.

Trevor Gregg says: "Gripping story, great performance"
"When is the next book coming, I hope soon!"

If you like werewolf stores you will love this one. Up and down. At the end of the book the author apologies for it ending and he should. Instead of writing an apology he should be writing the 2nd book! It was that good

  • Firefight: Reckoners, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Brandon Sanderson
    • Narrated By MacLeod Andrews
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Newcago is free. They told David it was impossible, that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet Steelheart - invincible, immortal, unconquerable - is dead. And he died by David's hand.Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life simpler. Instead, it only made David realize he has questions. Big ones. And no one in Newcago can give him answers.Babylon Restored, the city formerly known as the borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though.

    G. House Sr. says: "Fabulous -- A Must Read Sequal"
"Tell Brandon to get working and write the next one"

I love, love this book! It was better then the 1st and mad that it is over!
The book has all the things that I love. A not so perfect hero, who is looking to find himself and do the right thing. Willing to do things that are not always what we view as the right thing like kill people but does it b/c not to would be worse. Funny self deprecating. If you have not read this author get the 1st book you will immediately get this one and be waiting like I am for the 3rd! HDTV

  • Taken: An Elvis Cole - Joe Pike Novel, Book 15

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Robert Crais
    • Narrated By Luke Daniels
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Nita Morales hires Elvis Cole to find her missing adult daughter, she isn’t afraid, even though she’s gotten a phone call asking for ransom. She knows it’s a fake, that her daughter is off with the guy Nita will call only “that boy,” and that they need money: "Even smart girls do stupid things when they think a boy loves them." But she is wrong....

    R. Conley says: "One of the best"
    "Crass does it again"
What did you love best about Taken?

The thing I hated most about this book is that it ended and I have to wait another year for Crais to write another book. Like every book of his ( I have listen or read them all) Crais' characters of Cole and Pike make you want to believe that men like that exist.
Here Cole is on the hunt for a woman and her boyfriend who were kidnaped and there only chance to survive is Cole. But in his pursuit he is taken also. Pike is now looking for his friend and with John Stone ( another recurring character that I love) are out to find them. pike and Stone are good men who do bad things and all I can say is I hope to have friends like that looking for me if I'm taken. A plus book!

  • Flood: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By Andrew Vachss
    • Narrated By Christopher Lane
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Burke's newest client is a woman named Flood, who has the face of an angel, the body of a high-priced stripper, and the skills of a professional executioner. She wants Burke to find a monster for her - so she can kill him with her bare hands. In this thriller, Andrew Vachss's renegade private eye teams up with a lethally gifted avenger to follow a child's murderer through the catacombs of New York, where every alley is blind and the penthouses are as dangerous as the basements.

Rachel says: "Pretty good - I will try some more of the series."
    "This is a great book!"

I love this book; I listened to Straga before I bought this book on sale and must say that it was a much better book then Straga. I'm glad that I gave the author another shot and I'm going to go through and listen to his others. I'm the kind of reader/listener that once I find author I like I stick with them. (Robert Parker, Robert Crais, Dennis Lehane, etc.)
As for this book, as the previous person wrote, Flood is not for the faint at heart. It is very graphic and almost all the characters, most notable Burke are extremely flawed. But the thing about Burke is although he operates on the wrong side of the law; he does the right thing in a world that few people would even go into. Bad people can do bad things for the right reason, that's Burke.
