"Taylor is the name. John Taylor...My card says I'm a detective, but what I really am is an expert on finding things. It's part of the Gift I was born with as a child of the Nightside - the hidden heart of London where it's always three a.m., where inhuman creatures and otherworldly gods walk side-by-side in the endless darkness of the soul. Assignment: Locate the Unholy Grail, the cup Judas drank from at the Last Supper. It corrupts all who touch it, but it also grants enormous power."

This is the second book that I have read in the series and I am really enjoying the series. The storyline has enough plot and ghastly happenings, there is action and dry humour and the narrator is really one of the best I have come across. I have already downloaded the next 2 books and am looking forward to spending some quiet time enjoying them!!!

The Persimmon Tree opens in Indonesia in 1942 on the cusp of Japanese invasion and the evacuation of Batavia (Jakarta) by the Dutch. Seventeen-year-old Nicholas Duncan is on holiday there, in pursuit of an exotic butterfly known as the Magpie Crow. It's an uncertain, dangerous time to be in Indonesia, and Nick's options of getting out are fast dwindling. Amidst the fear and chaos he falls in love with Anna, the beautiful daughter of a Dutch acquaintance, and she nicknames him 'Mr Butterfly'.

If you could sum up The Persimmon Tree in three words, what would they be?

Bryce Courtenay's storyline and Humphrey Bower's narration of this book was incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed this and found the length gave me time to get emotionally involved with the characters. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves Australian history and Courtenay's writing. Simply brilliant!!

Nalini Singh steps back into the shadows of her heartbreakingly original world where angels rule, vampires serve, and the innocent can pay the greatest price of all . . . Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux and her lover, the lethally beautiful archangel Raphael, have returned home to New York only to face an uncompromising new evil. A vampire has attacked a girls' school - the assault one of sheer, vicious madness - and it is only the first act.

Would you consider the audio edition of Archangel's Consort to be better than the print version?

This third book is a good continuation of the story between Raphael and Elena. The story line is excellent and the performance is excellent. The narrator has done an excellent job in this series and I think I prefer the audio edition immensely. Justine Eyre is excellent and it is because of her that I would prefer the audio edition over the print version anytime.

What did you like best about this story?

The plot and narrator add to the story and provide an added dimension that needs to be experienced!

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Justine Eyre has added a richness to the characters that I would not have experienced in just reading the book.

    Any additional comments?

I have read a lot of fantasy and paranormal romance series. I have found this series particularly enjoyable.

I read a lot of Nora Roberts and I find them all good. However, once in a while, one of her books really gets to me. This is one of those. I loved the characters, the storyline and the narrator. Ahhhhh.... Next Nora Roberts book please!!

I love long novels. That was part of the reason I picked this one. I found it thoroughly enjoyable. At first, it seemed to be tediously long and I was a bit confused with the different characters and different periods. But, once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed both the storyline, the different generations overlapped with each other and I found the narrator, Caroline Lee very good. The mystery of the story kept me going and I must say that I enjoyed the last part of the book immensely.

She is accompanied by the soldiers Justin and Tayse, two King's Riders who are unswervingly loyal to the crown. Also on the journey are the shape-changers Kirra and Donnal, and a young mystic named Cammon who can practically read minds.

    Overall

I was going overseas and was looking for a series that would keep me occupied while I was away. I thoroughly enjoyed the series. I downloaded the first 4 books realising that it would have ended the story and so enjoyed it that, when I returned, I downloaded the last book, Fortune and Fate, and was again really pleased with it. The plot was great, the characters really well developed and having the different readers, while disconcerting at first, didn't cause any problems as the different parts of the book was related from different characters. I well recommend this series as a great listen. Enjoyable, interesting, lots of action, some romance, what more could one ask for?

Things are finally looking up for defense attorney Mickey Haller. After two years of wrong turns, Haller is back in the courtroom. When Hollywood lawyer Jerry Vincent is murdered, Haller inherits his biggest case yet: the defense of Walter Elliott, a prominent studio executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover. But as Haller prepares for the case that could launch him into the big time, he learns that Vincent's killer may be coming for him next.

    Overall

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. Okay, the narrator was so-so, but the storyline was interesting and the plot had quite a few twists that kept my interest up. Having a legal background, I particularly enjoyed the court banter, the investigation and the twists in the end. In fact, it got so interesting, I found it hard to stop listening and had to find out what was going on. I also liked the constant banter between Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller. Great stuff!!

A body has been found on the overlook near Mulholland Drive. The victim, identified as Dr. Stanley Kent, has two bullet holes in the back of his head, from what looks like an execution-style shooting. LAPD detective Harry Bosch is called out to investigate. As soon as Bosch begins retracing Dr. Kent's steps, contradictions emerge. While Kent doesn't seem to have had ties to organized crime, he did have access to dangerous radioactive substances from just about every hospital in Los Angeles County.

    JoAnn Marcon says: "Good thriller"

I have read Connelly before but this is the first of his audio books that I have listened to. I enjoyed the narration by Len Cariou and the saxaphone interlude!! I thought it was a good thriller, good plot and I like Harry Bosch. Listening to this rather than reading it made it feel like I was watching an old detective series! Will listen to more of Connelly's audiobooks!!

I was born in the Nightside, that square mile in the hidden center of London where it is always the hour of the wolf, where gods and monsters walk side by side and where every dark question ever asked can be answered - for a price. I left for a while, but I did come back, to make my living doing what I do better than anyone else: Finding things - lost or stolen, real or imaginary. I am still enjoying this series and its good to finally know who John Taylor's mother is!! Normally, a long series tends to get tired, but I'm finding that the plots are still interesting and its nice to have a familiarity in the characters and watching them develop.

I find the narrator in this series to be excellent and I'll be getting the rest of the series.
