On the holiday of Wintertide, the New Empire plans to burn the Witch of Melengar and force the Empress into a marriage of their own design. What made the experience of listening to Heir of Novron the most enjoyable?

The gambit of emotions touched sadness, humor, and joy with every book in the series. What a wonderful ending for a great series. I didn't want it to end.

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship and hardships endured by both Royce and Adrian.

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He captivated my attention with every sentence. Many audio books make you have to go back and recap. Not this one. He did an excellent job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was well done and yes, I shed a few tears of sadness and joy

    Any additional comments?

best audio book since the Wheel of Time series.

Where does The Night of the Swarm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

since I've listened to over 1250 audio books and mostly in fantasy, I would rank Redick's Chathrand series as in my top ten percent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Night of the Swarm?

so many, probably the dialogue, love and committment of the two young lovers

Have you listened to any of Michael Page’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and as usual, he was superb

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the end, I hated it. I was so disappointed. Made feel meloncholy. But hey, it was only fiction.

    Any additional comments?

I'm a sap, what can I say. I wanted a sappy ending not a tragedy of a kind.

The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels our own, is shrinking, and if it disappears, so does all magic. It’s up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to fix the ever-after before the fragile balance between magic users and humans fails. Of course, there’s also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, and her life is forfeit unless she can fix it.

It has been a busy few weeks for Private Kaylin Neva. In between angling for a promotion, sharing her room with the last living female Dragon, and dealing with more refugees than anyone knew what to do with, the unusual egg she'd been given began to hatch. Actually, that turned out to be lucky, because it absorbed the energy from the bomb that went off in her quarters. So now might be the perfect time to leave Elantra and journey to the West March with the Barrani. If not for the disappearances of citizens in the fief of Tiamaris - disappearances traced to the very Barrani Kaylin is about to be traveling with....

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Hundreds of years before the great Mage War, a land lies, unknowing, on the edge of catastrophe.... Barl is young and impulsive, but she has a power within that calls to her. In her city, however, only those of noble blood and with the right connections learn the ways of the arcane. Barl is desperate to learn - but her eagerness to use her power leads her astray and she is banned from ever learning the mystic arts.

Kathryn says: "I didn't expect to dislike the book so much."
    "entertaining listening that breaks down"
    Overall

I really enjoyed the first half of the book. Ms Miller does a great job of setting the story plot regarding two people who have been misunderstood and fighting to overcome odds. The narrator is great. They meet, fall in love, all that. Where the story turns completely is when the man, goes crazy and now we enter the realm of the "Mad Scientist" who chases everyone including his lover to extinction. It becomes more of a B movie horror flick. The man changes people into giant armored plated vicious bugs. Then it abruptly ends. He of course is doomed. It looks like the girl is probably doomed as well as her interesting altruistic brother who gets it at the end. It reminds me of a soap opera where they kill off characters you grew an attachment with and now you are wondering if the author will let them go or bring them back. In the sequel we are waiting on someone new to rescue the world. I'll buy the next and hope it gets better.

And there are also several dark spirits roaming the Chicago shadows who owe Harry some payback of their own. To save his friends - and his own soul - Harry will have to pull off the ultimate trick without any magic....

A lot has been said about the narrator and even I thought at first it would be dissapointing. Though after an hour, I felt like Mr. Glover did a good job. The story didn't enthrall me like his last book. Perhaps this feeble mind could not grasp all this ectoplasma and when he could fight and when he was unable in his spirit form. All in all it wasn't a wasted credit. Expecting great things when his winter knight role comes to play.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Got 40 hours to kill? You’ll find the time when you start listening to Lee’s take on Follett’s epic – and widely celebrated – novel of 12th-century England. The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of Philip, prior of Kingsbridge, a devout and resourceful monk driven to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has known...of Tom, the mason who becomes his architect - a man divided in his soul...and of the beautiful, elusive Lady Aliena, haunted by a secret shame....

Hate it when an audiobook won't allow me to sleep. It was so good that I had to keep listening. His historical references of that time were extraordinarily researched. I was skeptical about the story plot. I thought, why would I care about a building of a cathedral but it was riveting from the beginning. Kudos to Narrator John Lee. His voice made it easy to visualize.
