Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

    Overall

The book starts really quick and pulls you into it rather fast. The narrator is very good and her voice seems to become more entwined into the story. I'm in my thirties and loved the book. It took me about a week to get through it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I listen to audio books in transit and found myself taking longer to get to places so that I can just hear a little more of the story. Gripping. I rated the book a 5 even though there was a small discrepancy in detail which certainly goes to show how entertaining it was. I will definitely get the rest of the books in the series!

If you could sum up Tandia in three words, what would they be?

    A heartbreaking story

Who was the most memorable character of Tandia and why?

Juicy Fruit Mambo was very memorable firstly because he's a character of a similar name in Jack of Diamonds but mostly because of his utter loyalty and humility to Tandia.

    Any additional comments?

This story is a rather true depiction of what life was like in South Africa for a non-white person. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth... The story reminds the world of the reason for the hate bred in the hearts of those that lived on that piece of land at the bottom of the African continent. It is a reminder of how unreasonable humans can be, and have been. There is more than one side to every story and Bryce plays a pivotal role in portraying these sides. An artful story that draws you into the depths of human hatred... and then love.

I already have. A bunch of short success stories are always a great way to ease into an early morning run (when your bed is way more comfy!).

What about Christina Traister and Dan John ’s performance did you like?

Both voice overs were engaging and seemed natural.

These are the questions that Nick Dunne must ask himself on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police immediately suspect Nick. Amy's friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn't true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they aren't his. Would you try another book from Gillian Flynn and/or Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ?

Probably not. This was a book recommended by a friend so I forced myself to listen to at least the first 8 chapters.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Winds of War. Already bought and downloaded it and looking forward it.

What three words best describe Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ’s voice?

    Slightly over done.
