Reacher is hitching through the heat of West Texas and getting desperate for a ride. The last thing he's worried about is exactly who picks him up.

She's called Carmen. She's a good-looking young woman, she has a beautiful little girl...and she has married into the wrong family. They're called the Greers. They're a bitter and miserly clan, and they've made her life a living hell. Worse, her monster of a husband is soon due out of prison. So she needs protection, and she needs it now.

Lawyers can't help. Cops can't be trusted. So Reacher goes home with her to the lonely ranch where nothing is as it seems, and where evil swirls around them like dust in a storm. Within days, Carmen's husband is dead - and simmering secrets send Echo, Texas, up in flames.

Sherry Pitcock says: "Love that Reacher"
"The whole premise of this book is illogical."

Jack Reacher. The ultimate loner. An elite ex-military cop who left the service years ago, he's moved from place to place...without family...without possessions...without commitments.

Joanna says: "Child at His Best! A Must Read for Reacher Fans!"
"Dick Hill ruins good books. Worst narrator ever."

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. Almost unable to listen to due to lousey narrator.

If you’ve listened to books by Lee Child before, how does this one compare?

This book is completely the same as past books. You can predict everything before it happens. That is if you can hear it. Because the narrator mumbles so much.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dick Hill?

Someone that can control their volume and doesn't accentuate the last few words of every sentence.

Could you see Persuader being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Can you believe they cast Tom Cruise in the Jack Reacher movie? What is he? 5'6" tall?
And they make such a big deal about Reacher being 6'5" in the early books.

    Any additional comments?

Dick Hill ruins good books. And destroys mediocre ones.
