  • Ready Player One

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 46 mins)
    • By Ernest Cline
    • Narrated By Wil Wheaton
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Travis says: "ADD TO CART, POWER UP +10000"
"an 80's pop coulture history lesson"

For those of us who were born in (but technically did not grow up in the 80’s). We were exposed to a little of the nostalgia that this book highlights. consequently the book becomes an amusing little game of Spot the reference with occasional trips to YouTube to see the things you missed but you were sure were references

For the others among you who are interested in this book keep YouTube open because the references come in thick and fast

  • London Falling

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 59 mins)
    • By Paul Cornell
    • Narrated By Damian Lynch

Detective Inspector James Quill is about to complete the drugs bust of his career. Then his prize suspect, Rob Toshack, is murdered in custody. Furious, Quill pursues the investigation, co-opting intelligence analyst Lisa Ross and undercover cops Costain and Sefton. But nothing about Toshack’s murder is normal. Toshack had struck a bargain with a vindictive entity, whose occult powers kept Toshack one step ahead of the law - until his luck ran out. Now, the team must find a 'suspect' who can bend space and time and alter memory itself. And they will kill again.

Andreas says: "Coopers meets the occult; interesting clash"
"a darker British cop version of the dresden files"

  • Night Watch: Watch, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Sergei Lukyanenko
    • Narrated By Paul Michael
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Night Watch is a world as elaborate and imaginative as Tolkien or the best Asimov. Living among us are the "Others", an ancient race of humans with supernatural powers who swear allegiance to either the Dark or the Light. A thousand-year treaty has maintained the balance of power, but an ancient prophecy decrees that one supreme "Other" will rise up and tip the balance. When a young boy with extraordinary powers emerges, will the forces of the Light be able to keep the Dark from corrupting the boy and destroying the world?

Parusski says: "Lyrical, haunting and engrossing!"
"love this series well narated and superbly writen"
What made the experience of listening to Night Watch the most enjoyable?

the movies only do not do this series justice. when i read this i feel like i have been dropped inside of it in away that i have not felt since Harry Potter

  • The Man with the Golden Torc: Secret Histories, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By Simon R. Green
    • Narrated By Stuart Blinder
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Meet Shaman Bond, aka Eddie Drood, scion of the ancient Drood family. He is devoted to protecting humanity from the forces of darkness. Protected by the secret weapon received at birth by all members of the Drood family - a magical gold torc (i.e., a neck ring) that turns into a suit of nearly impervious golden armor - Eddie faces arcane dangers with healthy doses of wry self-confidence and sarcasm. Then the family matriarch sends him on a mission that turns out to be a deadly setup.

    Loren says: "entertaining"
    "fun sf\spy"

it is an obvious ripoff of Ian Fleming's masterworks but is fun enough that I personally do not care

  • Mattimeo: Redwall, Book 3

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Brian Jacques
    • Narrated By Brian Jacques, Full Cast

Mattimeo should have been named "trouble". Always getting into mischief and quick to lose his temper, the young mouse seems an unlikely candidate to take up the great sword once wielded by the legendary Martin to defend Redwall Abbey's peaceful way of life. But when Mattimeo and his friends are kidnapped by the fierce fox Slagar the Cruel, the bold little mouse learns that there is far more to becoming a true warrior than simply brandishing a sword.
