While most young adult novels can be quite formulaic and become very boring quickly, the Thief Prince is not one of those. Wonderfully crafted characters, with rich backgrounds; an entire world created for them and a story that compels the listener to continue on sets this book far above many in the genre.
Michele Carpenters voice is a complete joy to listen to. Her character voice development was good - it was very easy to differentiate the characters from one another, and her delivery style is flawless. Great tone and great skill! I would most definitely look for more titles by this narrator.
Out. Freaking. Standing.
Mark Watney, of course. I loved his sarcasm, optimism and great outlook on a grim situation.
No, This is the first. But WON'T be the last.
R.C. Bray brought to life Andy Weir's words in a most effective way. I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend who had listened to it. I was hooked from the first few sentences. Bray's vocal style is amazing and grabs the listener right away with his pacing and timing. Mr. Bray brought the characters to life very well, and captured the wit and sarcasm of the main character (Watney) perfectly. I am now a fan of this narrator and author!
Another interesting bit of world history. The narrator once again brings what could be dry material to vivid life!
The history of Britain has always fascinated me. I've listened to many audiobooks on various subjects but honestly, when narrated by an American, it just lacks that authenticity that one expects. Phillip J. Mather brings not only his amazing vocal skills to this book, but presents a somewhat sensitive historical topic (the gory and infamous Tower of London) the respect it so deserves. Well done Phillip.
An authentic voice to read. Mr. Mather's narration made the book more powerful and more impactful.
Yes. Very informative and interesting information.
The rich history of a very interesting item in history
Mr. Mather's truly powerful, commanding voice brings to mind that of a favorite university professor that students line up to hear. Well done presentation, would be a great asset to any college curriculum
Mr. Mather brings the quintessential British finesse to IF that would be absent if anyone else were to narrate. He's delivery is perfect.
Short but sweet. This audiobook is an excellent short listen add to any library
I have enjoyed many of Phillips performances, and this is no different. Delivered with authentic British style, Phillip's performance epitomizes Kipling's heart.
As usual, Phillip Mather's performance enhances the text with brilliant flair.
Yes, very much so. In fact, I have. This story is an amazing look at human beings! I'd love to go into greater detail, but this book is so full of good things (and twists!) that more detail would rob listeners!
The 'twist' near the middle of the story. (Sorry, you'll have to listen to find out!)
Paul's performance is spot on. His melodic voice brings the characters and story to perfect life. He makes it all too easy to BELIEVE he is the main character, by giving 'life' to him as well as great depth of emotion.
Pretty much the entire back story of the main character and his feelings for his father.
A must add to any audiobook library.
The narrator, Mr. Curmudgeon, is the PERFECT voice for this hilarious collection of rants! In true British fashion, his voice allows you to actually SEE the writers disdain for...well almost everything!
Kind of difficult to say....since pretty much everything had me laughing. The dentist trip would have to be THE funniest!
No, this is my first.
Yes. Even if it was too long for one sitting, WHO CARES?! Just push play...I DARE you to stop!
Eye-opening, Enlightening, Engrossing
To be honest, the entire book. Very much indeed an eye-opening glimpse into a very well know event. Well...what I THOUGHT was well known. This look into the 'other side' of the story proves that every event has two sides, both of which are 'right'.
Claton's voice and pacing is superb, especially for this genre. The way in which Mr. Butcher delivers the story quickly makes it feel as if he was really there - lending an air of validity to it all! I would gladly listen to more books by this narrator.
