What made the experience of listening to Private Berlin the most enjoyable?

I thought the story was very engaging and the performances were solid. I read other reveiws and was reluctant to purchase but I'm glad I did. I think others might have been too hard on the book - it is after all James Patterson, not Dickens.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. At the end, I actually sat in my car for an extra 10 minutes just so I could finish the story.

What does January LaVoy and Ari Fliakos bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

At first I thought Ari's portrayal of the "villian" would annoy me, but I not only got used to it, but got really creeped out by it - I think that was the point. They also did a very good job with the German words which I would have butchered trying to read them myself.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not extreme. Patterson (and the others he co-writes with) are pretty formulamatic. It's CSI in a book, but I know that going in and enjoy the adventure. It's not heady.

Manuel Perrine doesn't fear anyone or anything. A charismatic and ruthless leader, Perrine slaughters rivals as effortlessly as he wears his trademark white linen suit. Detective Michael Bennett once managed to put Perrine behind bars, the only official in the US ever to accomplish that. But now Perrine is out, and he has sworn to find and kill Bennett and everyone dear to him.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If you have read the other Bennett books, I would recommend as it carries the story forward.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It was relatively predictable and tedious at times. I skipped forward somewhere in the middle to just see how it ended.

What didn’t you like about Danny Mastrogiorgio and Henry Leyva ’s performance?

Bobby Cannavale IS Michael Bennett. If you get past that, the Irish accents left a little to be desired. Also, each gentleman took various"storylines" but I found it distracting when they would then perform the character the other guy had established a few chapters earlier. There is no need for BOTH of them to portray Mary Catherine or Michael.

Do you think Gone needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I want the next book in the series, but I hope they introduce a new criminal and storyline. Also, it would be refreshing to have one of these books not put the "family" in danger.

Private, the world's most renowned investigation firm, has been commissioned to provide security for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Its agents are the smartest, fastest, and most technologically advanced in the world, and 400 of them have been transferred to London to protect more than 10,000 competitors who represent more than 200 countries. The opening ceremony is hours away when Private investigator and single father of twins, Peter Knight, is called to the scene of a ruthless murder: a high-ranking member of the games' organizing committee has been killed.

What did you love best about Private Games?

I really liked the story. It was very engaging.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. I actually had to keep driving past my destination at times so I could continue to listen.

What about Paul Panting’s performance did you like?

He did a good job with the main characters. Luckily Jack Morgan didn't speak too often as Paul Panting's American accent wasn't very good, but overall, nicely done.

    Any additional comments?

While some of the story was predictible, enough of it kept me guessing to be really entertained.
