What made the experience of listening to The Complete Western Stories of Elmore Leonard the most enjoyable?

The stories were all so good! The narrators were excellent. I'd read many Leonard novels, but never his western ones and never any of his short stories.

What did you like best about this story?

Leonard's quality as a writer, bringing detail to the portraits of the times, the place, the artifacts and, especially, the interactions among whites, blacks, Apaches, and Mexicans. He doesn't stint in showing the racism, prejudice and injustice of the Southwest in the 1880s and '90s.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

I can't say because there were so many vivid characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just wished that some of the stories were longer or that there were more of them.

    Any additional comments?

This audiobook is a SELECTION of 11 stories from the paper book that contains 30 stories. The stories themselves are unabridged, but the "complete" collection is not here. I wish they were. Moreover, the stories selected are presented out of the order they appear in the book, which is strictly chronological in order of publication, from 1951 to 1994. I wonder why this was done. I'm not blaming Audible for either of these issues.
