Look beyond the abstract dates and figures, kings and queens, and battles and wars that make up so many historical accounts. Over the course of 48 richly detailed lectures, Professor Garland covers the breadth and depth of human history from the perspective of the so-called ordinary people, from its earliest beginnings through the Middle Ages.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

Would you listen to Bossypants again? Why?

    Yes, many times.

It's a short, easy listen and while I don't always get the references, it is very funny and real.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossypants?

Amy Poehler telling Jimmy Fallon that she, "doesn't care if he *** likes it"

What does Tina Fey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her personality, her voice. The stories are told as she intended them to be paced.

Amazons - fierce warrior women dwelling on the fringes of the known world - were the mythic archenemies of the ancient Greeks. Heracles and Achilles displayed their valor in duels with Amazon queens, and the Athenians reveled in their victory over a powerful Amazon army. In historical times, Cyrus of Persia, Alexander the Great, and the Roman general Pompey tangled with Amazons.

What made the experience of listening to Amazons the most enjoyable?

The scenes and people were so vivid, it was so easy to put myself into their shoes. These women were awesome!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    YES, and I did (twice)

    Any additional comments?

There are images referenced but there is no accompanying PDF, which is disappointing but not critical.

At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Kathy says: "This is one I didn't want to put down!"

Couldn't put it down, somehow even better than the TV series. Wonderful characters and narration.

Where does Storm Front rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Top of the list!

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed the book, I had read it first before listening to the audio book. James Marsters voice matches perfectly in expression and tone of what I imagined Harry Dresden sounding like, complete with audible exasperation and nervous swallowing.

    Any additional comments?

A great book, not the usual fantasy novel, made even better in audiobook format.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

An erotic gay romance, a suspenseful thriller.... A series of murders in New York City has stymied the police and FBI alike, and they suspect the culprit is a single killer sending an indecipherable message. But when the two federal agents assigned to the investigation are taken out, the FBI takes a more personal interest in the case. Special Agent Ty Grady is pulled out of undercover work. He's cocky, abrasive, and indisputably the best at what he does.

What did you like best about Cut and Run? What did you like least?

I had read the series previously, I really love the two main characters. A very sweet love story with guns.

I found the plot a bit obvious and the writing felt odd at times.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sawyer Allerde?

Perhaps someone with more emotion in their voice or a cast for the characters, especially for the women and for any emotional scenes, they felt a bit flat.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Yes!

    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the books more than the audio books and sometimes a bit of romance is nice. The characters and series grew on me, I'd say the series as a whole is better than just this book alone.

I rated this based off of other audio books and narration (this is why it's rated low) but I still very much enjoyed this.
