As director of the Ballantyne Foundation on Sea Pine Island, SC, Elliott Lisbon scratches her detective itch by performing discreet inquiries for Foundation donors. Usually nothing serious until Jane Hatting, Ballantyne board chair, is accused of murder. The Ballantyne's reputation tanks, Jane's headed to a jail cell, and Elliott's sexy ex is the new lieutenant in town. Armed with moxie and her Mini Coop, Elliott uncovers a trail of blackmail schemes, gambling debts, illicit affairs, and investment scams. But the closer she gets to the truth, the more treacherous her investigation.

What did you love best about Board Stiff?

    Cute cozy mystery

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    I'm still listening

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Rachel Frawley?

    Caroline Schaffer or anyone

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Not really

    Any additional comments?

The narrators over pronounced T and D sounds were so frequent distracting and maddening at times. I probably won't listen to the next in the series because of the narration.

With an ailing mother to care for, Lisa Grant takes the first job she can find: research assistant to District Attorney Scott Buchanan. What Lisa expects to be a mind-numbingly boring task turns into anything but when a missing-persons case draws her attention. The details of the case are engrossing: an entire family — father, mother, and two children — disappeared without a trace more than 28 years ago. Except that’s not all: the mother in a photo Lisa finds could be her own twin.

Dragged a lot wasn't my favorite but I love the narrator. It was too much of a love story than a mystery.

Lucy Valentine is as smart as can be, as single as you can get, and so not qualified to run a matchmaking service. But when her parents temporarily step down from the family business, Valentine, Inc., it's Lucy's turn to step up and help out - in the name of love. Plus, her rent is due. Here's the problem: Lucy doesn't have the knack for matchmaking. According to family legend, every Valentine has been blessed by Cupid with the ability to read "auras" and pair up perfect couples.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Dina Perlman is great but Lucy is a lifelong Massachusetts resident and Dina has a southern accent

What was one of the most memorable moments of Truly, Madly?

I'm midway through and enjoying the story

Would you be willing to try another one of Dina Pearlman’s performances?

She's great as Savannah Reid in that series but I may not continue with this series. I'm from Massachusetts and for some reason the narration is irritating to me

Was Truly, Madly worth the listening time?

    Yes

I liked the narrator, the story was ok but kind of annoying to me

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Mmmm I didn't find it that interesting

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

    I didn't mind the narrator

Was Fast Women worth the listening time?

    It was just ok

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A better story line. I did not find this book they are calling the book of the summer to be interesting or engaging. The characters were unlikable and it was very slow going back and forth through narrations and thoughts. It's unfortunate because I was hoping to like this author since she seems quite popular.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm listening to Spying in High Heels - nice fluffy chick lit with a mystery twist. My kind of summer reading (or listening)

Which character – as performed by Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne – was your favorite?

Neither - they were not likable in the least

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really, it does get better towards the middle and end but still very boring and I thought it was predictable.

    Any additional comments?

I would consider taking a listen to the exerpt before wasting a credit on this book.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Selected a narrator that had a younger voice and better acting skills

How could the performance have been better?

I just did not find the narrators voice good for the story, it ruined it for me
