Love all her historical romance wish she would write about Faith and her story but the most memorable for me was when she kissed his scars on his hands and told him him that those where his past and and he was honorable , and the narrator was wonderful she nailed it, hope she writes another historical soon but looking forward to the new novel coming up in August.
The only type of person that would like this book is someone that thinks very little of women
No, I don't like the portrayal of women
She did the best with what she had to work with
I was all of the above, angry, sad and disappointed, especially at the high 4.40 rating for this book
I was very upset at a female author that writes a character that in the beginning of the book is willing to walk to her possible death, but later in the book when she experiences sexual harrassment , , she is too afraid to speak to anyone abou t it and keeps it quiet. If This heroine is described as being brave and intelligent, then I must be missingsomething! I found her befuddled, confused and overbearing.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
I have always enjoyed Julie Garwood's Highlander books. I read them as a teenager and was in love with them. When this one went on sale I picked it up and reread it. I enjoyed the story again and it brought back memories when I read it the first time. My favorite will always be The Bride with Alex and Jamie. I like how in each book the heroines always have some quirky characteristic that left the hero shaking his head with disbelief. Overall a fun highland romance. Narrator does a good job.
Retired. My hobbies are knitting, sewing and sports. To busy doing hobbies to be able to read so audible books are great for me. Also enjoy listening when driving on a long road trip.
A story of two people growing to realize the love they have for each other.
I would have liked to, but too long. I found I was staying up much later than I should be as I had to get up the next morning because I didn't want to stop listening. Then again I didn't want to listen so long as I knew that would make me come to the end of the book and I wanted it to keep going.
A book you don't want to ever end.
Absolutely. Will listen to the whole series in order in about six months or a year. This is fun read.
Yes!! I was up WAY too late because I couldn't put the book down.
This is one of my favorite Julie Garwood books. The dialogue is great as are the characters. I always appreciate the strong women and loyal, rugged men!!! I think I have an addiction to her Highlander books. Really glad I found this series and strongly recommend. You can get a book list on her website to see the order to the books are written in. All are good individually, but they are even more fun in order.
Years ago, The Wedding was the second historical romance novel I had ever read, coming right on the heels of The Bride. I adore both stories and when I needed a guaranteed awesome escapism book, decided to listen to them on audio.
The Bride, narrated by Rosalyn Landor, was brilliantly done. Maybe because I had such high expectations for The Wedding, Heather Wilds, who has a lovely, comfortable voice to listen to, really disappointed me. The warriors often sounded like pre-pubescent boys or teens and so I had a tough time imagining them as manly Highland warriors. Also, even though the words themselves were the right ones for the times, the heroine sounded like she had walked straight off the pages of a contemporary romance novel.
As I said, Ms. Wilds has a lovely voice, but I wasn't able to stay immersed in the story due to the way she portrayed the characters.
All that said, I truly did enjoy the story.
It's all about romance in my library! I have a wonderful husband, children and my grandchildren they are my rock.
Yes, very entertaining!!
Brenna, her stubborniness drove Connor crazy!!
Heather did an amazing job on ALL characters!! Very passionate narrator.
I always laugh in Julie's stories.
"I wear a fez now, fez's are cool"
Heroine= Quirky? Check. Stunningly beautiful? Check. Prone to some kind of oddity? Check. Argumentative, a bit obtuse and very unclear with what she wants? Check. Smells a bit like a flower, fruit or sweet meat? Check.
Hero= Tallest man in the room? Check. (each book they seem to get taller, I am thinking the females need a new quirk - super neck pain from the strain of leaning back just to see the giants chin) Scariest, most intimidating male figure ever? Check. Argumentative, always right, superior to all in physical prowess and hotness? Check. Most feared warrior ever? Check. Confused by the wife and yet believes she should just do as he bids? Check...
Things to note before reading a Garwood book, you might smile like a silly insane person because they are lighthearted fun. I would also note, reading these in succession is probably not a good idea, especially if you have a good memory for details or characters. Garwood follows a formula very religiously.
Her books are generally fun non complicated reading. They aren't the fantastic romances I remember from my early adult years but they are worth it if you like historical romances with highlanders.
I would like for the publisher to pick a narrator though, perhaps use Rosalyn Landor, she is by far the best narrator I have listened to with regards to these books. Heather Wilds has a pleasant enough voice, she didn't whisper or sound like she was an old man swallowing a bag of rocks, but she didn't pause at all between PoV changes, which can be an issue with Garwood's books as the writer tends to PoV switch quite a bit.
