When the Virgil Flowers line of books started he was kind of an unwelcome diversion from the Davenport series. A spinoff that I was not entirely sure I was going to like. The series started slowly, but I've listened to every one of them, and I am liking them more and more. Eric Conger delivers a good reading performance, and I've come to the point that I like Flowers and know pretty much what he's going to do. He's his own man, and a very different man than Davenport. You can almost predict what Davenport will do; not so with Flowers whom Sandford keeps us guessing about most of the time. This is a good listen and worth you time and money.
Even though the premise is time tested Sandford brings the topic to life through that f-ing Flowers!
Setting is perfect contrast .... Middle East v. Minnesota
Give me a good mystery and I am happy!
I do think that after so many books Virgil is loosing a little steam. Ma helped generate fresh interest and enjoyment for me. If it were not for Ma, I would not have enjoyed it as much. I hope she is a fixture in future adventures.
I will buy the next installment in this series.
Way above average, in the top 5.
Lots of fun characters, humor and plot twists.
Again above average.
Yes, but of course I don't have such a schedule. I will have it finished in about 3 days.
I was a bit worried that this would just be another Virgil Flowers novel. It may be the best one!
Another great mystery
Virgil Flowers and his relationship with the redneck barn-wood selling female.
I can listen while I do long runs and not get bored.
I always chuckle at certain scenes in the book.
Flowers is fun.
Currently a local truck driver who has hours to listen to my audio books. I am hooked, some of my fellow drivers enjoy them also
I only get to listen to audio Truck driver and I enjoyed Mr Sanford's work
Who wouldn't think Virgil is the best also the rest where very interesting
One of the best and I have enjoyed all of his works
Yes, if time would allow good story great read and likeable charactors
Look forward to the next one Soon I hope
Great job on all fronts. Story keeps you guessing, the characters are so much fun, and the narration was excellent as always. Love that "Bleeping Flowers"
As usual, I was engrossed from the start and had a hard time not listening.
I've listened to all the Sandford books. Eric Conger is a fabulous narrator and he makes the Virgil Flowers books so much richer. He hits the humor dead on. The characters are awesome much because Conger's presentation. I've been tempted to look for other books just to listen to more Eric Conger.
As usual with Virgil Flowers books, there were many moments where I truly did LOL. With a couple of them, I replayed them because they were so funny!!
The Sandford/Conger combo is outstanding. It just doesn't get any better than these.
I enjoyed this book very much. It is funny and engaging and shows a humanity in Virgil we have not seen before. It also was not so bloody or so tragic as to make me squirm. I thought it delightful!
Give me water to swim and surf in. That with a glass of white wine and the sun. That's heaven.
The way the story went back and forth. The way the story went back and forth
Wrote the way he used too!
