Styxx ranks #2, only because Acheron is my #1 favorite!! A lot of people complained about the content of the story, but I wasn't worried about it because there was a point the author was trying to make...and she really made it.
I would compare it to Acheron simply because it's the story of his twin brother, and you really learn how much the two's live's were actually a lot alike.
Fred Berman is a great story teller. He isi simply amazing at creating the voices of the many charecters inthe story and puts so much emotion into them that it's a pleasure to listen to and follow the story with interest.
It definitely was, if not for having to work, I would have.
I actually read this book after listening to Acheron. I felt that I would get the full effect of the story by purchasing the audio book, and I was right. I only wish that Fred Berman had actually done both Styxx and Acheron...he's awesome!!! Only complaint was that there were a few contradictions with the sister, and I didn't like the way Acheron was made to seem cold in certain respects but overall, I loved this book!!
This was an excellent book and while I was eager to listen to what happened next, the subject matter was sometimes very difficult to listen to. Overall, I am glad she wrote Styxx's story, I like many others had really disliked him until this story. Looking forward to the next Dark Hunter book!

I have not read the print version.
Fred Berman brings an extremely volitile attitude, others may not have envisioned, without his help. The attitude will tap into deeply emotional support for the underdog. Without his help, many readers might give up the story before reaching the ending.
The story taps deep compassion of the reader, and even strengthens a solid moral compass.
This story is captivating and I listened to it for two to three hours at a time. I hated to stop, and anxiously took every opportunity available, to return to the story. Styxx is a man who was cursed, and suffered, at the pleasure of the gods. This lengthy mythological story, is told as a continuous mini-series. I loved it.
Book & History Enthusiast
After listening to Acheron I couldn't imagine how Sherrilyn could possibly make Styxx a redeemable character but she certainly did. Acheron and Styxx are now my two favorite books of hers...I really recommend them and Fred Berman did such a wonderful job on both!
With Styxx at a point. It just wanted to get him to stop brooding and actually lash out at Archeron and others. Nonetheless, it was a good story, kind of tarnished Archeron's squeaky good guy image a little which was surprising and added more depth to the story.
In- depth perspective into the protagonist, and the supporting subjects, made this one of the few audiobooks I dreaded putting down ( in other words- pausing).
Any and all in which he chose forgiveness over wrath. A human being overcoming the most basic of our instincts. Powerful and moving..
True to the character and tone of the novel.
this story of Styxx made me laugh, cry and rut for this champion!
Styxx of course, he like Acheron overcame such a terrible childhood, but in the end concord
My favorite scene was when the truth finally dawned on Acheron and how he had wronged his brother.
Styxx a story of misery and triumph.
just loved the story.
Reading is and has been one if my passions from 4years old. I love strong characters, funny, romantic, tearjerkers, action, fantasy, sci-fi.
His ability to love
I had a tearfest
If you buy only one book this year this one should be it
Immediately after listening to Styxx, I listened to Acheron again. The Dark Hunter series is by far my favorite series. Like most people, Acheron has been my favorite character....until now. I was stunned at how quickly Styxx became my new favorite hero. After reading both Styxx and Acheron's stories, I am listening to Styxx again and I love it just as much as I did the first time.
Acheron's of course, but also Zarek's story in Dance with the Devil. Like Zarek, Styxx was greatly misunderstood by all who knew him.
I thought Fred Berman did a wonderful job. His wide range of accents was both comical and moving.
Although this is part of the Dark Hunter series, it is the first book that is not about a dark hunter. It surprisingly takes you on a journey that has you questioning how much you know and love about the series central character, Acheron. Styxx has an amazing story that rivals Acheron's in every sense, and the ending seamlessly brings together a large cast of characters from the previous 22 books.
Great GREAT overall performance. I do think I enjoyed Acheron's adult voice the best. Galen was great as well.
If it was possible.
