Not even Jack Reacher could save this book.
Dick Hill is Dick Hill no matter how bad the material.
None that I remember. If I were not a Reacher fan already I would not listen to any more of the series.
Awful book that lacked a story. It sounded like there was a new author every other chapter. No real build on story beacuse there was no real continuation just stuff thrown in out of no where. There are no spoilers because...well just beacause.
I would likely purchase another Reacher novel but I would not purchase an Audible book if Dick Hill were the narrator. Although Hill would be very enjoyable reading a different author, I feel he was not a fit for a Reacher novel.
Classic Reacher with his dry, plodding ways and 50/50 outlook on almost all situations.
Hill's general rhythm. He had a choppy, hesitant cadence that just did not hit the mark with me.
No. I would certainly watch it via iTunes, Netflix or Hulu though. I just would not do the expensive theater thing.
Reacher finally meets "The Voice" and in the end it's a throw away. A potential daughter that looks and thinks like him and it ends with a fizzle. The main antagonists go away without impact. This storyline had so much potential, but it seemed that Lee Child , himself, just lost interest and ended it.
He didn't need to increase his volume to a yell when Reacher and the woman were riding in the convertible. It was a pain to have to adjust my volume control as a result of this.
I would cut my use of a credit if I could cut anything.
This is one of those books where I was walking the dog, listening to the book, and found myself talking back to the narrator. It was soooooo bad I would get perturbed with the bullcrap characters and storyline that I found myself saying, "Move on for crying out loud." I got just past halfway in the book and decided listening to it was harmful to my attitude. So I didn't finish the book.
I'm through with this series.
The genre is not the problem here.
Monotonous, monotone, and single voice.
Not any redeeming qualities.
The worst problem with this book is that the plot is ridiculous. Anyone that has been on the military knows this.
The writing. After listening to a lot of other books and writers and then coming back to listen to this book, and I listened to All the Reacher books, I couldn't help but notice how poorly written Never Go Back was. I feel bad for Dick Hill having to read this thing. 50/50 I'll never listen to another.
I'm still bumbed that I picture Tom Cruise when I hear the name Reacher. He would have to change his whole character to fit in with this writing.
Every scene where he starts rambling about 50/50
I don't think Lee Child put much effort into this book. That goes for his last book also. I was in a hurry to get through this book so I could start another.
Another Reacher hit. I can see a follow-up here with two of the characters, hope so anyway! My only complaint (shared by someone else who listened to this) was that mid-way during the second download there were several characters introduced. We kept getting them mixed up and confused mainly due to there rather difficult names. Glad I stuck with it (I almost didn't) because things wrapped up nicely.
I could probably pick this book apart but am such a Lee Child/Dick Hill/Jack Reacher fan that I have a sort of unconditional love of the series. Give this one a go.
I am rarely seen without my headphones on and my iPod clipped on my waist. I love my books.
It you haven't yet heard about or read about Jack Reacher, it is high time that you did. Love Jack and all of his adventures. I am always sad that his books end and I have to wait for the next one. Love Dick Hill's narration, and Lee Child's imagination.
Depends if you know how to read or not.
This is compairable to Worth Dying For because the main character is similar..
Yes, his lady voices crack me up.
Yes, when Reacher looses a hand due to a knife fight. It. Was. Crazy.
Lee Child is an amazing writer. He has a great formula for this seires and never dissapoints... Except for letting TC ruin the movie of course.
