This is an awesome ending (or is it?) to a wonderful series. Mr. Correia brings it home with non-stop action, as our heroes joined by an unlikely ally fight an enemy bent on sucking the entire planet dry of life.
Yes, and that rare thing for myself. My usual opinion would be why would I listen to again when I can listen to something new, but in case the answer is YES. The story while simple is awesomely entertaining and the Bronson Pinchot does a outstanding job bringing the characters to life in all three books.
Tie between Faye Vierra and Jake Sullivan, though Toru is right up there as well. The characters are all so well written and brought to life by Bronson that it really is hard to choose a favorite.
Yes, I could have easily taken a long drive and hoped to get stuck in traffic.
Sad to see the series end, I will miss it and will listen again. Still what a great conclusion.
I stumbled onto this series by mistake. After reading my last Vince Flynn Novel I had a need for more. I searched the internet for suggestions and a few people referenced the author as a alternative to Flynn. I don't usually go for Magic and Fantasy but the way he writes the books you start to believe that its real. It has been a great series and was finished well. It was inline with all the preceding novels with a few twists.
can't compare it with anything else. The story itself was so out of my normal reading stream that I can't even begin to compare it to anything else. The Narrator is fantastic. He is the future of audio books. He brought the characters to life, the different voices allow you to easily create a relationship with the characters. The only thing I can say about this book and series is that it is a perfect example of what a audio book should be. Escapism.
All of them. Great Narrator.
It was enjoyable and a great ride
Dad, Dentist, Adventurer. Well... at least 2 of those.
More of the great characters we all love. If you haven't given this one a try you really owe it to yourself to check these out. I was blown away by how good it was.
This has been the best audio production book series I have listened to. The voice acting was superb!! The audio was well edited (no annoying discontinuities or pronunciation blips). I think this is what it would have been like to listen to the old radio shows of the 50/60s. Great story and great vocals kept me hooked through the whole series
Great end to a good series.
I was so impressed with this piece of work. He did an amazing job.
Might as well add my two thumbs up to the couple thousand people who have already given this series 5 stars. (this is #3)
After learning a bit more about Correia, what I find absolutely incredible is that he's only been writing for a few years, 6 or 7 from what I understand. He's incredibly prolific, and with a natural sense of action and pacing in his books.
Pair him up here with Bronson Pinchot and you've got a series that kicks literary hiney.
You're probably also going to want to snatch up a copy of the kindle version, because you're not going to want to put these books down- even in bed at night when wearing headphones gets to be a tad bit tangly.
Top 5 amongst Ender's Game, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Joe Ledger series and Day by Day Armageddon.
All of the battles are vivid. His description of teleporting during battle brings to mind images that surpass what Nightcrawler was shown to do in X2.
The first book of this series caught my eye because of the title; "Hard Magic." It's gripping, right? Well, the description almost discouraged me, but the name was so great, I just had to give it a run...SO glad I did !!
The stories center around the evolution of magic into mainstream society. It takes place in the early 20th century, and Larry Correia does a terrific job of tying in history with his story. Incredible talents, Good vs. Evil, action, excitement, complex characters...just a terrific job.
This is installment three of the series. My son and I debate whether it is the final book or not. He did wrap things up well, but I think there's lenity of more adventures for these terrific characters. Give it a shot...it's worth it, and it's better after the first two in the series.
