I love how the story played out across the three books, great wrap up to get the story of what happened to Nash during the time away and see more of his true character. I am not sure how I feel about the change in Marissa, it is sudden but drastic things had happened to her. The only issue I really had with the story is the narration, its not that it wasn't good it was, but if was what I was use to for Cash and Olivia so it was hard to adjust to hearing them as Marissa and Nash.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a good story. I liked Cash and Olivia but there were times when Olivia pushed it. Fortunately she gets over it and improves greatly after the first 3rd or so of the book.
This story is a direct continuation of the first book, Down to You. It begins where Down to You left off. Marissa shows back up after her trip out of town and wants to talk to "Nash". Cash tells her Nash isn't around and Marissa goes home. Olivia decides she should go home and speak with Marissa and Cash takes her home. When they get there, they notice signs of a struggle and soon realize Marissa has been kidnapped. Cash is determined to get Olivia to safety while he figures out what's going on. He soon finds out that the bad guys have taken Marissa (originally intending to take Olivia but Marissa showed up at the apartment first) in order to force Cash to give them some incriminating evidence that Cash has been hiding for years for the safety of his family. Cash finds them a place to hide Olivia and he goes to talk to his dad in prison to get advice. His dad gives him 2 ways to find help, both of which Cash puts in to motion. While they're working on getting help, they have to deal with regular life. Olivia and Cash work in the bar that night but Olivia has decided not to tell everyone about her and Cash's relationship so they have to hide it from everyone but then Olivia gets freaked about Cash again...worrying about his bad boy ways and how she's ignoring her common sense to be with him and stuff like that. To be honest, Olivia was a great annoyance to me for the first 3rd of the book. She admits to herself that Cash compels her and that she's falling for him but she keeps thinking that she’s ignoring his bad points to be with him but in all actuality, it seems like she’s ignoring all his good points and labeling him and a bad boy even when she knows it’s not true. She listens to an ex-lover of Cash’s talking about his preferences and such and Olivia lets it place doubts in her mind about Cash. Olivia knows that Cash has had to put on the show of the bad boy for years because of his family issues and that’s not really who he is but yet she agonizes about how he’s going to hurt her. She even thinks he might have fooled around with another woman just because they talked outside the club for about 15 minutes and when they came in the other woman was smiling. Fortunately, after the first 3rd of the story she realizes that she’s being an idiot and starts acting better towards Cash.
Cash gets an unexpected surprise with the visit of the first person that comes in response to his dad's calls for help. With this comes the realization that a lot in his life isn't as he thought. Cash struggles to work with a tough situation to get everyone safe. Part of this includes sending Olivia to her mother's house to stay for a couple days with his friend, Gavin, as a guard. The problem is that Olivia's mother is horrible and Olivia is stupid. Gavin tells Olivia she can't go to classes but doesn't say why because her mother is there (but Olivia knows it's because it's too dangerous). When Gavin leaves the room, Olivia's mother tells her she's ruining her life letting another man ruins her by forcing her not to go to class and crap like that. Olivia doesn't decide to tell her mother the truth...not even close. Olivia instead folds to the pressure her mother put on her and goes to classes without Gavin for protection (effectively ditching him even though she knows she's in danger) where (of course) she gets taken by the bad guys. She had just been acting better towards Cash and then she pulls a way TSTL moment like that and I almost couldn't continue with the book at that point. Thankfully, after Gavin and Cash manage to save Olivia, she spends the rest of the books behaving better and even tells her mom off. There's plenty more of the story to get through as Cash and company try to figure out how to manage things and come out of it safe. Unfortunately, although Cash and Olivia are solidly starting the HEA together by the end of the story, the action story line isn't finished and continues in to the next book in the series.
Overall this was a good book. The story line was pretty good and I probably would have given the story 4 stars if not for the total annoyance factor of Olivia in the first part of the book. If she hadn't gotten better it might have taken it down further but fortunately she improved greatly. Cash was great and I felt he did well considering all he had to deal with. I'm not sure if I'll read the third book in the series. I didn't like Marissa very much and I'm worried she'll provide an annoyance factor...I'll have to see... :)
Listened to the first book and I can guarantee that this one is really great!!!
love the story!!love the characters!!! love the narrators!! what more can I ask for?
a twist that everyone will surely enjoy.
I have a real crazy in love relationship with books!!!
The dual narration is pretty exciting but Kate is pretty darn awesome....Oh and the story is pretty unique if you ask me.
Ginger of course! Simply because she is hilarious and reminds me slightly of myself (though I am neither that funny or that raunchy lol).
I listened to book 1 and since it is a continuance of the same story...it is still awesome.
Absolutely. It is pretty funny, pretty steamy, and pretty interesting.
I definitely recommend this series. I do not think you could possibly be disappointed...well other than it being so short.
This series has STUNNED me in the best way, it is SO GOOD! It has humor, action, suspense, romance, and hot hot sex--PERFECTION. Things really rev up even more in this second installment, and without giving too much away, some really great new characters are introduced that keep you wanting to know what happens next. This is more than a credit worthy series for sure, you'll love it!
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
The storyline is mediocre but there is a lot of steamy sex, I will continue on with the series because I do want to know how it ends. I am not a fan of the narrator, she has an annoying way of enunciating her words. The male narrator is not too bad, he is a little soft for Cash and Nash though, he is more suited to Olivia's father.
Yes, it is enough of a suspenseful storyline to continue on with the series, but once it ends I would not search her out.
I have favorite characters with my favorite narrators and I can't imagine who would be best.
It would be x-rated or maybe something you see on Sons of Anarchy.....hint!hint!....C.Hunnan aka Christian Grey....he would make a fabulous Cash/Nash as for the female lead....who cares?
No spoilers! Love HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. I also review in exchange for books-lots of fun surprises!
Yes, the first book pulled me in and this one cemented the series. By #3 I hope everything will make sense.
For Olivia, romantic bliss has never felt as right as it does with Cash. Unpredictable, except when it comes to satisfying her desires, Cash has a well-earned "bad boy" reputation, but he’s turning his life around with the one woman who accepts him for who he is.
Until strangers from the past turn Olivia and Cash’s world upside down. What they want is something only Cash can give them. And if he doesn’t deliver, then they’re taking the one thing that Cash values the most.
Olivia always knew that in falling for Cash she was likely to get burned. But this new threat is beyond anything she imagined. Now she has to trust Cash with her life - and for Olivia, that’s much easier than letting go and trusting him with her heart.
I'm having trouble because the twists and situations are SO over the top...BUT I am getting into it.
I've only heard them in the first book and they are good.
NOTE: Strong Language and descriptions of sex
Working Mom of 3 with a busy work schedule with a LONG drive.
WOW - I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!! Couldn't put my ear buds down! I read this story in one day.
The twist and turns continue in book 2 of the series. The romance between the Cash and Olivia continues to build, you learn more about that other characters and the plot is intense!! It’s difficult to say much about the story without giving too much away.
Just as in Down to You, the narration in Up to Me is impeccable. The narrators are not reading the story to you but rather acting out the scenes, which is refreshing and only intensifies the book that much more!!
I CAN NOT WAIT for Everything for Us....9/3/13...just 15 more days!!
The smart & charming Oliver in the book 1 turns into a dumb, insecure and annoying girlfriend.
Not sure if I even want to finish this series. I really love the first half of the book 1, after that it just went down hill. I had a difficult time finishing the book just because all the actions seem so unreasonable.
M. Leighton should stay with romance story instead of suspense/thriller type of story.
Kate Rudd did a good job as Olivia
I liked the first book of this Series. The story was very good and this author knows how to write a Sex scene. I love to listen to anything Kate Rudd narrates. Benjamin Darcie is ok but he needs to stay away from doing accents.
I wasn't crazy about this second episode. It just didn't seem to be very exciting or draw you in. I don't think I'll purchase the 3rd one in this series.
