Right at the bottom. The narrator is all wrong for this book. Her voice is grating and annoying and I found it took away from the great story.
The ending was very action packed, so I'd have to say it's one of the best parts of the story.
Yes. The narrator was so wrong for this book. The accent and tone were too much. I really was distracting and took away from the great story. I wish the author would consider finding a different voice in the future. I will not be buying another audiobook in this series if the same narrator continues.
Yes and no. I had a love hate relationship with this one. Loved the story, hated the voice.
I really cannot recommend this audiobook to anyone because of the narrator. It was such a huge problem for me. I have listened to other narrator and some were bad, but this one takes the cake. I'd tell someone to buy the book and read it manually, great story....horrible narrator.
Sci-fi, detective, cozy. Only give 5s to those books I think stand above the rest. 4 is a good solid book. 3 is average, nothing special.
Love this series. This one is a bit different than the earlier ones, both in writing style and Abby's ability to solve. As always gets herself in a lot of trouble.
When I first started this series, I really enjoyed the way Abby used her skills to help people, and Dutch's sturdy crime solving skills. There was also some comedy to lighten the mood. Books 10 & 11 are dark, frustrating, and gloomy. I do not find Cat's bully tactics funny, and I can't understand why two people as smart and capable as Abby & Dutch let her run all over them. I also can't understand why Victoria Laurie decided to turn the books into dreary doom & gloom, marked-for-death-by-a-psycho, constant flashing back and forth in time stories. She could benefit by learning the difference between suspense and frustration. I suffered through 10 and waited about 4 months before getting 11, only to find out it was basically part two of the previous story. I'm not wasting any more credits on this series.
Everyone has to have that "Thing They Love!" This is how I find and keep up with mine!
Action packed lots of friends join in to help Abby make it down the isle- the question is is Abby ready for her sisters help and is she ready to put her abilities on the back burner to say I do? Action packed well written and worth the credit! I would suggest reading the seasons in order.
I look for to the Abby Cooper mysteries. This book was no different. For the most part I enjoyed it. The mystery was solid, Dutch and Abbey were great. However, the book lost a star with Abby's sister Cat and MJ. #1 I don't like when books go back and forth with the past and present. It doesn't increase the suspense it only becomes a distraction. #2 The inclusion of MJ and Gilley was annoying. The two characters were out of place and didn't add to the progression of the story. They could have been eliminated and Candace and Milo could have played a bigger role in the story. #3 Cat was completely out of character. In the past she has always been a little over the top. But she has never been so obnoxious and over bearing. I expected her to plan an extravagant wedding, but I also expected the wedding to be sophisticated and stylish. The wedding that she planned did not reflect anyone's style. It was actually tacky and offensive. If it was meant to include humor into the story it fell far from it's mark. #4 although Abby's parents were mentioned in the book and it was explained why they would not be attending the wedding, I expected them to attend anyway. In previous books they were described as social climbers and wanting to be in the center of attention. Plus they have a relationship with Cat. The addition of the parents could have served as comic relief and unnecessary drama instead of including MJ and Gilley, and going back and forth with the past and present. I found myself skipping through the book at some points because it was too much. I will buy the next book but if it continues to over exaggerate comic situations I might have to say goodbye to Abby and Dutch.
This series keeps getting better and better, it's a MUST READ!
I think this is might be my favorite of the Psychic Eye Mysteris. I love that Victoria added M.J. and Gillie to help out on this adventure. Hopefully they will pop in more often in the future and maybe work together to solve the next mystery.
Narration is fabulous as usual too!
Congrats Victoria, this book was FANTASTIC, looking forward to reading it a 2nd time!
Yes, mystery, mystique and romance, what more could a girl want?
Yes, I thought I figured out the perp early on....but I was wrong.
her voice is very pleasing to listen to. She gives life to abby and dutch
Psychic My Ass...ops, that will be twenty-five cents please.
Thanks, I need a little entertainment in my life. LOL
Tighten up the storyline, too many obvious clues "ignored" by main characters, strange distortion of established characters like her sister, new 'facts' about the main character that are different from past books (like her parents) and finally; poor narration.
Yes, only because I've listened to the series and have been happy with most of the other books.
I almost didn't make it through the first book because I don't care for Ms. Michael's narration, but I got used to it. In this book the change to Bryce's voice from previous books was puzzling and so annoying I almost didn't finish the book. Why does he suddenly sound like a whiny, nasely dope?
Oh my, hard to remember exact scenes when you don't have a hard copy to refer to but in general - every time she went into long introspective moaning and groaning by main character about her upcoming marriage and all the ridiculous stories she told to avoid her fiancé, his family and her sister. I got it the first 10 or 15 times and it got really old!
Great idea for a story line but poor execution and narration. Most of the characters seemed shallow and one dimensional, especially Dutch and Candice. They are usually much more "alive" instead of just props or foils.
I've enjoyed all previous books but this one not so much. The main character Abby got on my nerves with her indecisiveness and lack of communication, I'm shocked her fiance didn't just call of the wedding! She's a psychic but failed to listen to the intuitive pings she was getting, how can you solve the case or avoid danger this way? It's a pattern I've seen in the previous book as well, I'm hoping it doesn't continue. I recommend the series overall, not all books in a series are winners.
The voice of Bryce Harrison was awful!! This is supposed to be a commanding authority figure. Portraying him with a whiny wimpy voice was a terrible choice. The rest of the presentation was excellent.
