Just trying to find my next great read
I will try another book by Ruth Cardello. I am not sure about Kim Bubbs. Kim Bubbs was not so bad that I thought "I will never listen to a book by her again" but I was also not "I want to find another book narrated by her".
I thought I heard smacking of the narrator's lips. Then there was this background buzz that I know is not the fault of the narrator but of sound production. She just made the heroine sound too high pitched at times and it felt like she was trying to hard to make Dom's voice sound masculine.
This book was fine for a chick-lit. By the end though, I just wanted it to end. It was not my favorite book by Ruth Cardello.
Too short. Would of preferred book 1&2 combined as one book or priced at half the recommended price.
Have to wonder as others have, why there were rave reviews for this book. It was very predictable, not even believable in parts. The narrator was good except I didn't care for the voice she gave the heroine. Will not listen to others in the series and definitely not spend a credit on them.
Fun. Romantic. Sweet.
The banter and the griping story
She adds a different voice than the one I had in my head. LOL Also, it is nice to just be able to sit back and let the story unfold.
There were many moments that moved me. Of course, when Dominic faced his feeling for Addy and confessed them to her was a very sweet and very moving scene.
I could not let go of the story until I had heard it all. Ruth Cardello is an amazing writer and Kim Bubbs a great narrator. they connected with me from start to finish. As for the romance: I found the main characters to be very well developed and utterly interesting. I even liked the villain (Stephan), as it is hinted that there is more to his desire to destroy Dominic than mere professional rivalry.A well deserved Five Stars. This was my first taste of audio books and I have certainly developed a taste for them.
I would consider it an adjunct. Nothing replaces anything
The depiction of the Alpha Male - Dominic. The author - Ruth Cardello - beautifully presents a strong male and bit by bit reveals the sensitive sweet side.
Emotion - action of words through hearing.
Yes the book makes you laugh and wonder at times. Definitely keeps your interest - you won't be able to put it down until you finish.
Love this book. Thank goodness for this book - it introduced me to the wonderful works of Ruth Cardello. Thoroughly enjoyable.
The interaction between Abby and Dominic..
when they meet..how Abby at first didn't treat him the way everyone else did..she was concerned about him just because he looked like he needed someone who cared.. and she even asked to see his ID cause she really didn't know who he was.
Her personal touch in the reading of the story..the emotion..the caring..the concern
How Abby cared about others..shown in the first meeting of Abby and Dom, and when it's explained she's helping her sister keep her job by doing it for her ..the goodness of her heart ..you can feel it..
I love a book to take me where I can't go..I'm not rich and never could live the lifestyle of the Male Character f the story..but thru Ruth's telling of it in such a believable way, I feel like I'm right there with them.
I am used to silly romance stories and actually they can be fun. But this story is just fluff. It is made impossible to listen to by the little girl voice of the narrator.
This story started really good. I was very engaged until it was evident the story was moving along faster than I could see plausible. The main characters found themselves in love after a short few days when he is supposedly a rake and a handsome billionaire one at that too. No one in that situation is that crazy, but I guess Ruth Cardello found it necessary to move the story along quickly to complete her project that could have been great had she spent a bit more time on it. So I lost interest about half way into the story. Passionate scenes were ok, but again I need more mental stimulation in a book.
The narrator was also not very good. I felt she was about to fall sleep at any moment while narrating.
Quite the silliest book I've listened to in a long time, made even more so by the narrator giving the heroine the squeaky little voice of a sexually precocious 8 year old, but Hey! it was on sale so my expectations were low to begin with; However I really did LMAO at the utterly preposterous storyline and ridiculous dialogue so Thanks for that. The suspense from waiting for the next disgorgement of nonsense brightened a dull day but I won't be repeating this extravagance.
I loved the story. Such a lively, bolshy heroine in Abigail, a schoolteacher who undertook the challenge of caring for and changing the hero, billionaire Dominic's outlook on life. She really was quite remarkable.
Oh, and the hero, just where do I find me one?
The narration was good. I found that once I got used to the different voices I knew who the person was.
Most enjoyable easy listen with sparks flying between the two main characters for most of the story.
I like Ruth Cardello's style of writing and would recommend you giving this book a read or a listen.
