The Immortals After Dark series is PERFECTION! I don't normally get into book series because I lose interest so easily but it is just not possible to lose interest in these books! The writing is EXCELLENT!! It's the perfect mix of comedy, romance, sexual tension, drama, suspense, action, excitement... Sorry, I got carried away. 😳.

UNTOUCHABLE piggybacked off of many of the previous installments in this series which gave it a “been there, done that” quality. Murdoch & Daniela’s relationship was somewhat similar to Naomi & Conrad’s from book 5 in that physical contact was impossible, and both stories featured a Wroth brother. The plot was shaky, and seemed more intent on recapping past IMMORTALS AFTER DARK happenings while also introducing new characters instead of giving the two leads their due. This was the third novel that’s missed the boat which is still a respectable track record.
The romance was this audiobook’s biggest failing in my opinion; I liked that the roles were reversed with the female pursuing the male, but the two protagonists were constantly at each other’s throats (again, similar to KISS OF A DEMON KING) which turned their love story into a war zone. The author glossed over the many steps between Bachelor Panic to HEA, and as a result I just didn’t get how they got from A to the cheeZiest ending that this series has produced so far. The sex scenes made me laugh with their artificial melodramatics and cloyingly sweet feels.
I’ve already expressed in some of my earlier reviews how much I enjoy the fact that many of the installments take place alongside one another; however this novel blurred the timeline a bit with too much jumping around. We go from the beginning of this series, to the Hie, to the conclusion of Conrad’s tale, and then wrap it all up with Danii’s plot thread. I felt like a deranged bouncy ball landing briefly in all eight of the preceding titles while barely touching upon more on target specifics such as ice fey mythology, and Forebearer deets.
Robert Petkoff’s narration rode in on its white horse for the third time to rescue Kresley Cole’s flailing writing; I’m beginning to suspect that his delivery has more to do with IAD’s success than the author. Ok, no, not really, but the last few audiobooks have definitely benefited because of his contribution. He tried Loa’s Cajun accent on for size, and it suited him just as well as the werewolves’ Scottish brogue, or the rage demons’ fury.
UNTOUCHABLE was mostly a flop, although the Petkoff band-aid made it worthwhile.
I'm a fantasy book hoarder!! :-) I am a mother of two small beautful childeren and my books are my way of getting away for a little break!!!
Very good but I always love kresleys books! can't get any better than to have to use ur imagination to make a in possible situation work! Robert petkoff was great as always!
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
Audible messed up the numbering for the books in this series. This is actually Deep Kiss of Winter, so this is both book 7 and 8 in the audible series. I did enjoy this story but it is far from my favorite. My main reason is because both Daniella and Murdoch love was so unattached, it didn't feel real until closer to the end. I'm also not a fan of books that skip a bunch of time without telling us what is going on. This one did a lot of skipping time since the story starts out the same time as A Warlord Wants Forever and it skips time a bunch only to touch down briefly during each passing book in the series, but is from Murdoch's point of view. I feel like Kresley Cole could have made this book into a longer book because some of the build up for the end of the book was anti climatic, such as the crowning of Daniella. Narrator rocks as usual.
Vampire Murdoch, one of the Wroth brothers, finally finds his mate Daniela the Ice Maiden, but this is one Valkyrie he cannot touch. Since she is part ice fey, if you touch her skin, it burns her. That also means that Murdoch cannot claim her for his own as he cannot bed her nor bite her. These two become frustrated trying to figure out how they are supposed to be together, but can't be together. Is there any way to overcome the ice queen's condition?
I liked this story more than the other vampire books because these two actually wanted each other, but circumstances beyond their control prevented them for moving forward in their relationship. It was interesting seeing their highs and lows as frustration got the best of them.
The narration was again great. It was also nice to see the Wroth brothers work together and each get bloodied as they begin to repair their family.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys star-crossed lovers.
He was spot on, just like in the other books in the series.
I am glad it was shorter than some of the others so I could finish it in one night ( I listen while I am at work)
I can't wait for the next one!! I think I will go back and re-listen to the whole series again while I wait.
