This is a very good story and the way that Ms. Cole blended the prior stories in was well done. This story pulled on my heart strings and even made me question fate's decision. Well done, Ms. Cole!
I don't know how I did it, but I almost missed this book in the series. I'm so glad I didn't. It amazes me how Kresley Cole manages to write 8 books in a series and actually manages the time line of them all to interconnect. The stories actually come back to life with some actual missing pieces. This story now makes so much sense from the tidbits we got during the earlier stories. Especially with Conrad and Naomi. Great details and love the difference with their mating.
I enjoy all of the Kresley Cole Immortals after dark books. No two book storylines are the same and Robert Perkoff is awesome! His narration pulls you into the story and it takes you away as you listen. Perkoff truly makes each story for me!
Enjoyed this book much more than the last. While it had kind of an abrupt ending, I can see it setting up some future story lines. Can't wait to start the next book to see who's going to get bit by the love bug.
As a massive talent in the paranormal romance genre, Kresley Cole is a must-buy for me and a mission to acquire every one of her Immortal After Dark books which just get better and better! Sometimes we revisit characters from the past – especially some very cool and fun ones, as well as the bad guys. Old characters are brought up to date to what’s going on in the present and some come in to aid the the perplexed! And then we have Nix the all-knowing, inexplicable, scatter-brained sooth-sayer who is never wrong and an absolute hoot!
The plot of UNTOUCHABLE features the fourth Wroth (vampire) brother who finds love, in an almost impossible situation for any man - human or vampire. Murdoch is totally besotted with Daniela the Ice Maiden. Unfortunately, to touch her will bring her unbearable pain and vice-a-versa. So how to overcome this? First of all is the element of trust which takes awhile for Murdoch to forge with Daniela and to keep her safe from those that were trying to kill her!
Both stubborn - neither Murdoch or Daniela are able to accept their undeniable attraction to one another, nor that they are destined as mates. They have the the all the adventures and excitement of Murdoch trying to keep her alive while they meet half-way - then clash and back off. But then an amazing thing happens when Daniela accidentally bloods him and Murdoch will never be the same again, but then Daniela disappears and the biggest adventure begins again.
No spoilers here – but it will be up to you to see how north and south can come together to meet at the equator!
Bottom line: Just simply another fabulous entry in one of the more original paranormal genre’s out there. Highly recommended both as a stand-alone book or my preference of being read to by the amazing narration of Robert Petkoff.
I love these stories, have read them all in book format, but its like hearing them for the first time all over again narrated! The accents done by the narrator are amazing! Im listening to the whole series in order every spare chance I get!
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a pretty good addition to the series. I liked both Murdoch and Daniela and was happy that they found a way to be together.
Daniela the Ice Maiden is a Valkyrie that is part Ice fey. She exists at a colder temperature than others and if she overheats she'll die. She also has the issue that if she touches someone, it causes her physical pain. She acts like the lack of touch doesn't bother her but inside she's lonely and wants someone that can touch her desperately.
Murdoch is a Vampire and one of the Wroth brothers (the other 3 all have had their own books in the series). When human, Murdoch was a warlord like his brothers but he also was a ladies man. Once he became a Vampire he couldn't be with women any more but he never wanted to find his bride because he didn't feel he could ever be with just one woman.
Daniela's mother was the Queen of the Ice fey but got ousted my her consort and when she went back to try to get her throne back, she ended up being killed by the usurper. Daniela was raised as a Valkyrie and had no wish to gain the throne that was supposed to be hers. Regardless of this, the usurper of the throne kept sending hit squads to try to kill her because he feared her. Daniela and Murdoch get thrown together when a hit squad of Ice Fey are trying to kill her and Murdoch can't stand to see that happen so he helps her. While he's helping her, she bloods him and they realize that she's his bride. Murdoch never wanted a bride and doesn't take it well. Daniela wants someone to be with her so badly that she'd willing accept a Vampire but Murdoch's attitude puts her off and they both go their separate ways, Daniela pissed at Murdoch and Murdoch just pissed at fate.
Their split doesn't last very long before they meet up again and Murdoch finds he can't stay away from Daniela. He's constantly thinking of her but unfortunately, his past smoothness with women goes out the window every time they're together. He finds himself saying all the wrong things and in general being a jerk even when he tries not to be. This puts them at odds even though they are both attracted and drawn to each other. After some problems, they decide to make a try at a relationship but their inability to touch (along with some other issues) cause a strain on the relationship. They both make mistakes and have problems that cause their issues to be exacerbated. Regardless of this, they do fall in love and when things go bad they both feel the pain of loss. Fortunately, Murdoch does something he shouldn't have but it leads him to figure out how they can be together. He makes a desperate effort (one that's very dangerous for him) in order to get Daniela back and it ends up working. They come together in the end in a very nice HEA.
This was a pretty enjoyable story. Both Murdoch and Daniela had their issues but I liked them for the most part. I was happy that they figured out a way to be together because I did feel for them when they were having difficulties. Overall, this was a pretty good story and I'd recommend it (and the series). :)
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
This is very classic Immortals After Dark and it sizzles! I have loved this series from the beginning and though the stories are all quite similar they are unique. Be prepared for steamy sex and a narration that will curl your toes, Petkoff is dreamy!
