Yeah, get a new narrator. I am very distressed to find that this guy narrates the next three books in the series. Not sure I'm willing to spend my money to listen to this guy again, no matter how good the story.
Very strange diction, and his accents were off.
it seems every book in this series I'm saying the same thing, simply can't go wrong. it seemed as though this story had some stylistic differences compared to the previous ones but it was still fantastic. There are several plot points that really threw me for a loop and kept me on my toes. As always I can't wait to listen to the next one. My only knock on this one was the narration. It was good however we've had the same voices for some time and it felt as though there were less characters in this one due to the narration.
Listener as I drive my 45 min drive back and forth to work. I love the action series and some of the more business/coaching self help stuff.
I have been listening to the Sigma Force novels for a while now. Love the Characters and the writing. Sometimes the writing is a. It heavy on color, but still fun.
This narrator was just not a good fit. The vocal color too prominent and over-bearing. It felt too much like a performance to me and not enough like a reading.
I love the sigma force series. I've been listening to them non-stop during my long daily commute. Peter Jay Fernandez's narration was excellent. He was especially excellent in voicing the different characters whether male or female. Christian Baskous's narration was very poor. His attempt at accents were awful and voicing of female characters even worse. It really made the story unbearable. What's worse is I've noticed that the next books in the series are all narrated by him. I pray that he gets better in the following stories. I don't why they didn't stay with Peter Jay Fernandez.
The narrator for this book is truly terrible. I love James Rollins, but for this one I'll stick to the paperback. I've barely started and the idea of continuing makes me sick.
The performer wasn't the best. The story was good. i think the long term rival was missing peice. still a great peice!
I continue to be a huge fan of the Sigma Force Series. However the change in narrators is immediately notable and not for the the better. I've had to repeat entire chapters because I find myself tuning him out. It's took me 3x as long to finish this book as it did the last novel. Such a shame!
It is difficult for a narrator to come into the middle of a series. I sympathize. But Christian had some serious difficulties with accents which was very distracting. I love listening to books narrated. But I may not continue with this series if Christian will continue to be the narrator of choice. Sorry Christian!
As all Sigma books this has the right twists and suspense and vilans. But the narration wasn't at same level. It take some time to be used with monotone way that Mr. Baskous imposes on his reading. Not good on action descriptions neither dialogs. I miss Mr. Peter Jay Fernandes. He was way better in tone, voices and above all, emotions.
Unfortunately this is one of the first times I'll submit a negative review. While I am enjoying the sigma series the new narrator for The Eye of God was a distracting element in the book. The narrator's use of varying dialects were IMO horrible. The Italian didn't sound Italian and the Asian sounded borderline offensive. I even asked a second opinion of Asian family to be sure and the consensus was it sounded forced. Thank you for trying to create an immersive atmosphere for the listener but this was a hit hit and a miss.
