It was an excellent continuation of the journey for Allie.
The dynamics of Jackle and Allie coming together under a united front and seeing that she finally shows Z what she really feels for him. I have to say that I loved the ending.
I think that she is one of the best Narrators that I have ever listened to, and I have heard a lot.
I actually cried and laughed to the point that my husband thought I was a little crazy when I would just bust out with laughter.
LOVED< LOVED< LOVED this book!!!!!
This my Fav series!!
For me it kinda had a Hunger Games/ Divergent/feel, with a hint twilight (don't worry though the vampires don't sparkle ;P) . That totally doesn't do it justice, but this is definitely a MUST read soooo good!
Jackal, I love the bad boys of the story best, but really I love all the characters even the villains; which is probably the first time I could ever say that about a book.
Wanted to and did!! I couldn't out it down, good thing my job allows ipods because it had such an enticing story line and such 3dimensional characters you get sucked into the world!!
Well I think I have said it all but anyway, this is a must read and I HIGHLY recommend it! The story line is great, the voice acting is great and the characters are absolutely fantastic! Also it has Zombies... Who doesn't love a good Zombie!!! XD
Fantasy & Sci-Fi lover who mostly refuses to read books without their audiobook counterparts. How else can a girl get any housework done?
Most definitely! The brutal & harsh dystopian universe Julie Kagawa has created is quite fascinating with a protagonist who is strong, layered & someone you can easily root for. I loved the first book/audiobook of this new series & this one topped it tenfold! There was so much action & suspense in this book, but it didn't overshadow the important character development that takes place with the characters, nor did the character development overshadow the action & suspense. It was a beautiful balance that only great storytellers can truly pull off. It did start off a tad bit slow in the beginning, but trust me, it picks up about 1/3 into the book & doesn't stop until the very end! I lost a lot of sleep over the past two days, b/c I could not stop listening. I was cleaning my house way past 2am, just so I had an excuse to keep listening. By the way, expect one heck of a cliffhanger! I was practically screaming at the very end & woke my poor husband & dog up. lol
While the market is currently heavily saturated with vampire & zombie books, this book/series is unique in its own right, so I find it quite difficult to compare it with other books. The protagonist, Allison, sort of reminds me of Sita from 'The Last Vampire'/'Thirst' series, by Christopher Pike...that is, before he decided to re-launch the series, thus messing up a good thing. Both Allison & Sita are vampires, trying so hard to cling to their lost humanity. Their desire to connect with humans is very strong, but a constant uphill battle & their characters are neither good, nor bad...neither black or white, but multiple shades of gray, which is much more realistic for a vampire, who's main source of nutrition is humans' blood.
No, I have only listened to her with this series. I thought she was great & truly nailed the voice of Allie. The only negative would be her voice for Sarren, which was way too hammy & whispery. Other than that though, I loved her & really hope she will stick with this series.
I also really enjoyed the the slow-building relationship between blood-siblings, Allie & Jackal. Actually, I really enjoyed Jackal's character development throughout the whole book. The only slight negative I have about the story would be Allie's extended monologuing about fighting her inner monster. But like I said, it's only a very slight negative & it doesn't make the story any less awesome. And last but not least, ZEEEEEEKE!!! Allie's relationship with Zeke is both fascinating & heartbreakingly tragic. I am DYING for the next book!!!
I am immortal ....so far. I enjoy a god story and love a great narrator. :-)
Ok so there are a million vampire stories but the writer is really taking this in a different direction. As a fan of the Faye series I like the way the stories evolve and love the characters. Not my favorite narrator but the story makes up for it.
Read this now!
The pace is amazing and Ms. Kagawa pulls no punches so be prepared.
She is fantastic!!
Zombie Vampires and Mole People!!
I need the next book now. Everything I have read by Julie Kagawa has just been amazing. I will always buy and read her books.
Addicting, Emotional and Intense
The development of Alison and Jackal's relationship.
I think I loved it when Alison returned to New Covington. It was like her life was making a full circle.
The end...I'm not saying anything else so I don't spoil the book for anyone.
OMG! I hate cliffhangers!!! I can't believe I have to wait a year for the third book!!!!!!!!!! **SNIFFLES**
I love this book. It is the third book in the series, which I never thought would have a prequel too. The story line is excellent; the prequel gives evidence to support the naiveté of the beginning of new life regardless to a past life. And the ending is unexpected but breeds new life into the next book. Can’t wait for it to come out.
PS: Narrator is great, please don't change her.
