I would recommend this book to anyone. This is a story of a person's mistakes and how we can learn from them, move on, and still find happiness.
There were times I wanted to shake some sense into Emmie but she came through at the end. Some of us have to learn the hard way and more than once.... great story!
Say something about yourself!
Narrator does 1 good male voice and the rest just sound dopey. And the plot...gesh! Okay, I only got 2 hours into it, I won't lie, but I feel justified.
The heroine of the story was just plain dumb, I mean truly too stupid to live. She starts an affair with her practically engaged boss, realizes that is NOT a good plan and starts dating someone else. Of course the boss is pissed, the new guy is clueless, and everyone seems to be sleeping with everyone. Lots of cheating, no condoms used, and the word Love is tossed around like the word of the day!
I finally turned it off when guy#1 was at her house, and 2 minute after he leaves guy#2 knocks on her door....she jokes "What did you do drive around the block until the coast was clear?", he admits he did...then after guy#2 leaves guy#1 calls and she acts like she hasn't seen him in days...um....he was JUST THERE!!!
Poorly written, poorly executed, not worth the $4.95 I paid for it....and the "steamy" scenes had zero steam! They were written in almost a clinical way, no buildup, no play by play in a sensual way...have I mentioned this book had ZERO redeeming value?
Anyway, still going through my library of books I have purchased and never got around to listening to. I'm hoping my next "A" book is better than this drivel.
Yes! Great drama, awesome sex, and melt your heart moments!
I loved how everything wasn't peaches and cream the entire time. The H/h faced some real life issues. Couples have to get past cheating, drug abuse, and betrayal all the time.
No, but I really loved her as a narrator.
"Trapped in the Closet"... lol
I wasn't sure what to think about this book when I was deciding on buying it or not. I'm sooooooooo glad that I didn't listen to the other reviewers b/c this was a great story with an awesome narrator. Even though I would not want to be cheated on I know that sometimes couples go through events like what happened in this book. It's real life! I'm getting tired of the H/h falling in love and automatically only having eyes for each other as they walk off into the sunset towards their HEA. Yea right!!! Life is messy and this book shows how bad it can get when you make bad decisions. I'm in the middle of the 2nd book of the series and I just might love that one more than the first one! Good job L.D. Davis! If you keep this up you might make my favorite authors list!
This book starts out as a steamy, sassy chick-lit romance and then grows legs and depth of character. The narrator at times sounded like SIRI was reading to me, but for the most part suited the style of the book.
The lead character became annoying with her perpetual weaknesses.
Luke was a great character, one that you wanted to root for the entire book. The story was a bit weak.
The performance was very average. Not memorable, but did not detract terribly from the book.
No. Simply because it dealt with way too many themes. I felt very overwhelmed after reading novel. I'm glad it had a happy ending but I think it could have gotten there without the meth and abusive weird relationship.
We have a great story here with way too many sex scenes that all sound about the same. Next, to really try to bring things together, the author has to introduce a habit of one character in the last couple of chapters that was never mentioned or even alluded to throughout the story - making one feel a bit cheated that the author just suddenly had to find someway to explain the rest of the book.
There's a story in there and a good message, unfortunately it seems diminished by sex scene after sex scene.
I would recommend. It's an easy listen and can be entertaining at times.
Serena Daniels' performance is what made this book horrible for me. First off, she sounds about 20 years older than Emmy. Second, I could not, for the life of me, understand her character voices. She had Samantha sounding like friggin Eliza Doolittle and Kyle occassionally sounded like some creepy homeless man that stole children in the night. Very disappointing.
