I like to live vicariously through fictional characters. I enjoy reading and/or listening to mostly paranormal and fantasy.
While this isn't my favorite book in this series, it is still a great one. Both Kresley Cole and Robert Petkoff kick it out of the park. He does such a great job with a wide variety of accents in both male and female voices. There is a ton of Nix which always makes things more interesting.
Love to read!
Kresley Cole never fails in writing an engaging tail that you don't want to put down. I love that many of her female characters very strong both physically and mentally. Sabian is definitely one of those characters. At first I didn't think I was going to like her, but as the layers peeled away I started to really enjoy her character. Rydstrom is definitely hot and domineering, but still a caring tough guy. I really liked their chemistry and tension. I may listen to this one again!
I love, love, love Robert Petkoff's narrations of the IAD series. Love the accents, the life he puts into the character, etc. The Kiss of the Demon king story is a continuation of Dark Desires After Dusk which follows Cadeon's brother Rydstrom Woede and Sabine (love the names by the way). If you haven't listened to the Dark Desires After Dusk first, then you'll be lost with this book. Sabine's character puts herself so high on a pedestal, it's hilarious to listen to. Love the story about demons and sorceri, but I can't wait to get to the other books back to the Valkyries and Vampires. Keep them coming KC and RP! Love this series!
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
I'm just going to make this simple. If your a paranormal fan then you need this one. Of course you've heard the previous books in this series so continue on this fabulous journey! YUM!!!
Audible addicted love mystery, lately stuck on love story. Mother of 1 Labrador and 1 perfect man. Work way too hard, and so ready to be retired
Awesome series so much fun, keep you laughing and very hot. All the books in the series can stand alone, worth every cent won't give any of the story away just read the or listen to the preview...and Robert is a fabulous narrator.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a really good story. While I had reservations in the beginning...the story got better as it went and in the end I was very happy with Sabine and Rydstrom as well as how things ended.
Sabine is a Sorceress whose main power is Illusion. She's the half sister of Omort the Undying, an evil sorcerer that took over Rydstrom's Kingdom. She and her sister sought shelter with him when they were young and later had no choice but to stay as Omort gave them a poison that they had to take regularly (and only he had) or die. Sabine has had a hard life and had to become hard to survive. The only person she has ever truly loved is her sister.
Rydstrom is a Rage Demon and their king but he lost his Kingdom 900 years ago to Omort. He's tried hard to get it back but Omort can't be killed and is a strong sorcerer so it seemed impossible. In the previous book, Dark Desires After Dusk, he found out about a sword that could possibly kill Omort and gave him hope of retaking his throne.
This book somewhat overlaps the timeframe of the previous book, Dark Desires After Dusk. Rydstrom is on his way to meet Cadeon to go on a quest to get the sword he needs but is captured by Sabine when he falls for her illusions. he's shocked to find that he feels a pull to this evil sorceress and that she may be his fated mate. Sabine holds him prisoner, trying to force him to make an oath of marriage to her and then have sex with her so she can bare his son. There's a prophecy that when Sabine has his son, that son will unlock a powerful well of magic that resides in the castle. No one knows what it will do when unlocked but Omort is determined to gain that power and will use his sister to get to the power. Sabine doesn't want to help Omort but because of the poison she doesn't have much choice and she'll do whatever is needed to keep her and her sister safe.
Considering how their relationship starts, you can see how things aren't easy for the couple. When Rydstrom manages to escape, he takes Sabine with him because although he despises her on some level, he also realizes that she's his mate and he's determined to keep her. He hopes to find a way to make things good between them but isn't sure how to go about it. Sabine doesn't want to go, partially because she doesn't trust anyone to take care of her and partially because she knows she'll die without the poison Omort regularly doses her with. Their way is treacherous at best but they manages to get back to Rydstrom''s home in New Orleans and make some promising progress on their relationship. Of course they still have much to go through before they get to a good place between them but they manage it. Even then there's still much danger and some drama to get past but they do end the story with a great HEA.
I really enjoyed this story overall. I have to admit that I liked it less in the beginning but I liked it more and more as I read. After reading Dark Desires After Dusk and seeing all the trouble Cadeon and Holly had to go through on the quest for the sword, every time Rydstrom thought bad things about how he knew Cadeon would disappoint him I wanted to kick him. Thankfully, that stopped after a bit and in the end, things between the brothers turned out wonderfully. Rydstrom and Sabine's relationship was conscientious at first and I had a hard time seeing them as a happy couple but Cole did great at turning it around and I was really happy with how things ended between them. Overall I was really happy with the story and would recommend it (and the series). :D
I just can't imagine.
It seemed like a farce but without any cleverness.
I don't know.
Puzzlement at the favorable reviews.
Just not a writer I enjoy.
The stories are funny and suspenseful and romantic and sweet and HOT and and and.....!!!! Reading these books while single is just not right!! lol! "Gods", I cant wait until the next one!!!!
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
Another beast getting his female and it is so much fun! Good story, lots of characters but easy to follow and little bits to remind you of past stories and of course the best of narrators! This is #7 and I am a follower to the end!
