Let's face it, a whodunnit is best when it has a twist at the end... this delivered that.
No it didn't - it dragged a little. But it was worth persevering.
I liked the accents.
The main character was excellent.
A good middle of the road thriller. I'd recommend it and I will no doubt read more of these characters.
It is a mystery novel - once you know the mystery there is no point in listening to it again - although it is narrated beautifully
The Silkworm - same series
This was my first - fantastic
No but it is a very decent length and do provide hours of excellent entertainment
A beautifully written story like only a true master like J K Rowling can do
I enjoy reading fantasy, crime and mystery thrillers, as well as historical novels.
I loved all the mystery and entanglements surrounding the alleged suicide of the supermodel and the interaction between Cormoran Strike and his temp. secretary Robin.
Each twist in the story kept me guessing about what really happened and who was involved. The story kept me intrigued all the way through.
I am glad that it was leaked that J.K Rowling wrote this under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and that the profits have gone to charity. I may not have purchased this book otherwise and been able to enjoy an excellent story from a master storyteller. Robert Glenister's performance as narrator was brilliant as well.
I really enjoyed all the characters in this book. Intriguing story and now I am just awaiting the next in the series. Very atmospheric book...I felt that I was there. The characters are so real and I didn't want to leave them when the story was finished.
Great charcters from JK, there will be more to come I'm sure.
Nice pace of story telling.
Robert Glenister is excellent.
Entertaining, gripping, fun
I liked both leads.
No. His narration was perfect.
Yes! I kept finding all sorts of excuses to start listening (I have never cleaned and ironed so much!). Haven't had so much fun reading a book in a long time.
I'm so glad JK wrote this after her bad one, The Casual Vacancy (couldn't get past chapter 3). This is a modern mystery with characters I could totally believe are real. I hope there's another in the works.
I wouldn't try another in this mystery series. Will I keep trying J.K. Rowling in the hope of another Harry Potter, definitely
The ending. The book built beautifully, lots of intrigue and wondering but the end answer just didn't live up to it. It seemed somehow illogical to me.
He did do brilliant accents and voices, you knew character from character. The swearing is more intrusive in an audible book though and there is A LOT of swearing.
The explicit language really tainted my view of this book. I was forgiving it until the end of the story was so unsatisfactory. The writing is eloquent and it's a swift and absorbing read though.
I haven't read the print version so cannot comment.
The surprise ending
This is the first time I have listened to Robert Glenister but will look out for future performances.
Engaging, clever, well written
the plot flowed well
Fantastic! Really Great
Quite a few
A great listen for you mystery buffs
