This book suffered from lack of an investigator. On the other hand some of the clues were less than subtle and anybody, except apparently the main character, could have figured out most of the "mystery".
The part that came as a surprise was a bit abrupt and somewhat ill conceived.
I have always loved to read, and now I really enjoy listening to my books as well!!
I have not heard of this author before—it was the narrator who caught my attention when the book was released (Kevin T. Collins has narrated two of my favorite books in the past year or so).
I did enjoy this novel—it was pretty standard issue for a legal mystery, but then it took an interesting turn that I was not expecting! That made it unique, and kept the earphones in until I finished the book!! I see this author has another book available from Audible—I will definitely add it to my library as well.
The narrator was excellent—as I thought he would be. This book was read/performed very well, but not in an overly dramatic way—just right!
Didn't read book but I'm sure based on my experience text would be equally amazing
Character development and plot
Great versatility on all characters
Yes...found myself looking for an excuse to drive
Love to listen to books more often than reading. Audible gets me through the day and night more especially when I'm working !
This book is definitely a good read, it ranks at the top of the list of other reads or (listens) thus far !
My favorite character was Nina, she seemed sincere and caring until the end when you really find out how she is.
I liked the guessing game. The plot thickens with each chapter !
This book didn't make me cry however it made me look at other books from this author
This is the 2nd book of Mitzner I am reading. I kind of liked his previous book, and reading several praising reviews, especially talking about the shocking end, I started listening to the book. I actually read it to the end but almost at the middle I already knew how its going to end. I am sorry to say but it is a just another John Grisham wanna'be but not close to the sophistication of Grisham's novels. Readable and page turner but nothing more. At the end I was quite disappointed and thought I should balance the other readers enthusiastic reviews.
Anyone who has gone through a traumatic event and lost someone close will know that coming back is anything but easy and Mitzner throws in some interesting twists and turns to make it even more interesting. This book was worth the time spent. I highly recommend it!
I will look for more from this author!
Mitzner's characters, from the DA to the Judge,to the Defense Lawyer, ( the main charactet) ring true. As a trial lawyer myself, I very rarely read, or enjoy lawyer books. I have a tendency to pick too many holes in the plot or the trial objections etc. Not to say I didn't do it in this book but overall it was pretty ture to form. In fact, at times, when the author was talking about emotions and the pressures of a trial lawyer he was right on. The characters were very realistic. The Judge is someone I've been in front of many times, some actually worse. The story moves along well, a little sappy at times, but I stayed interested. Overall A good read, especially if you like lawyer books.
It rekindles my interest in courtroom drama.
the domineering judge
mildly touched about how the lawyer tried ot piece his life back together
Yes. Its a very interesting story and you learn how hard people will strife to accomplish their golds good or bad.
The first love moment with Nina and daniel
The first sex scene

The narrator has one accent for most characters its ok though I find it funny
