I love Epic Fantasy....have become a Historical Romance fan because I am a sucker for a good Happily Ever After. Good characters are a must
There aren't a ton of details because it is a set of 3 short stories. Felt like I was thrown into the story in the beginning.
A woman narrator. The narrator just didn't make me feel like the characters were supposed to look from the words the author used to describe them.
Hot love scenes...but it is a collection of 3 short story's so I don't guess there is too much other you could add before it became a whole trilogy. I did not like the first story as much as the last 2.
We sell Vintage and Retro items on line. We teach children urban gardening and robotics. Traveling around the USA is our favorite hobby.
This ranks within my top 20 audio books. I love the way that this is a trilogy. The books just flow into each other. It also fits in well with the Druid series.
I love the scene with Connor in the River, Finn in the great hall and Roderick when confronting the Blue Beserker. The way the Beserkers change is a very good portrayal of the myth. In the myths, usually the blood just makes them all crazy. I like that they can't kill their mates or family.
Totally addicted to romance audiobooks! I rely on you lovely reviewers to find my next listen and try to pay it back with my reviews!
I'm a sucker for the Highland romance genre so I purchased Unleashed after reading positive reviews; it not only met, but exceeded my expectations!
Normally, historical romance is more for the story and not for the "steam factor", with long, drawn out courtships and adherence to strict standards of propriety of the time period. Byrne's novels are not impeded by the sluggish pace and restrictions of the time! I was immediately swept into the stories of passion, preternatural creatures, and lore of the Scottish Highlands and Norse mythology.
I can't wait to listen to the next books in the series!
[Unleased is comprised of three novel(la)s: Unspoken (The MacLauchlans, #1), Unwilling (The MacLauchlans, #2) , & Unwanted (The MacLauchlans, #3)]
Love historical and paranormal romances with smart, imperfect people who against the odds find love when they are not looking for it.
The list of books to listen to over and over is very short. This series is at the top of the list. Romance, strength, love, vengence, humor, surprise and passion. The stories are amazing, the narrator is wonderful. These are like nothing else, each is a complete stand alone story but you will be SO glad there is more. These will all need 5 stars.
What a nice little story. Sweet love story and some very nice sex. It was nice sex because Roderick was mute and couldn’t say the stupid things authors usually have them say that have me rolling my eyes. Evelyn was a little goofy and ran off at the mouth when she was nervous and that made her sooo likable. Oh, and, Alrik got all that he deserved.
Another sweet story. I just love how the berserkers decide who will be their mate. LOL.. Even though they sound scary as hell when they’re in that form. AND I really don’t know how a woman could possibly get turned on by him when she’d surrounded by dead bodies. Fortunately, THAT didn’t last long. I really did like Connor and Lindsay. And, again, the bad guy, Angus, got what he deserved and I was happy about that.
The end! And what a great book. I loved every story and every hero and heroine. Loved Finn and Rhona the best, I think. She had it pretty rough so I was really happy for their HEA. And it was nice to see Roderick and Evelyn and Connor and Lindsay. Three really wonderful brothers. All got their own bad guy, including Finn.
As to the narrator: Again, he was just alright for me. The worst was Finn's voice. I don't know, he sounded kind of stupid. I'm just not that crazy about Derek Perkins.
Yes. I like the approach. 3 smaller books linked by family characters to keep the story line moving to make 1 larger great novel
Rodrick, hero in the first novel, he couldn't speak.
If you want some quick paranormal/romance stories this one would be a good one to try. They were entirely too short but were well developed. It's the story of two berserker brothers who find their mates and in the last story (little spoiler) discover a new brother. There's action and of course since they're finding their mates a lot of hot love scenes. The fight scenes are a little bloody since when they smell blood they go berserk.
The narrator was excellent and easy to listen to. He was even pretty good on the female voices.
