After reading the first book in this, series this book made a lot more sense quickly since I had already been familiar the way he was writing. In my opinion there two voices that read the book made the book it really helped put a picture on the kind of characters made out in the book. I think as a whole it was another very very good book I read by David and I have read most of them. I am looking forward to the third series but can't afford it right now
Almost perfect listening
On a long drive this book was a perfect filler as it had a captivating story line, the plot unfolded slowly but did not drag. I knew my husband was totally smitten ( hard to find something we both would enjoy) when on several occasions I would stop the book because of the navigation system speaking or I wanted to check directions and he was impatient to get back to the audio! BUT, I did NOT appreciate the added sound effects, the shots fired, squealing cars etc.. thus the 4 not 5 stars for performance. They were totally unexpected and jarred me while driving, which was an unnecessary and a potentially dangerous distraction. Therefore, I feel sound effects have no place on an audio book. This is not a TV or a radio production. Putting more on a recording does not equate to better.
Not time well spent.
No, just Baldacci
Performance was fine.
I don't like "super hero" books. The premise is plausible, but the protagonists are always at the right place at the right time with the right weapon and the way to escape. Too much!
The hit is definitely in the top 5. This is movie material
All the time , since the intrigue was connected but also diverse. The addition of sound kept me on my toes especially after walking and listening, shots were fired and I jumped.
Great range and types of voices that are consistent with the character. Add their voices and sound and you have a great book to listen .This you would have to imagine if just reading .
Funny, i said this should be a movie earlier, and did not realize this question would be asked. I would have to say "friends are friends ?"
I have several of David Baldacci's books and they are all great. Has any of his books been made into a movie or TV series. Someone is missing out.
Husband, father, son, brother, occasional book reader. Avid book listener. I have written two books about real estate. I have a blog.
Suspenseful, entertaining, solid
Good storyline that developed at a good pace. Well written sub plots.
Good character dialect.
Brute force or finesse, they do what it takes to get the job done.
This is the book that got me interested in the series.
The sense of emotion that happened on the plane, the parts that included Julie, the ending.
Of course. Loved The Innocent !!!
I loved Orlagh's there was just enough inflection change for each different character to be believable. McLarty's was perhaps tainted by what I "thought" Robie might sound like.
The parts that included Julie, the plane to Dublin and the ending. "close your eyes."
Usually I hate it when the author repeatedly refers to background on the main character, but this time he barely referred back.
Audiobook. Cliche, but I can’t say much about this book that hasn’t already been said. The audiobook version has over 2000 reviews. Typical Baldacci, well produced, and excellent narration by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy. They have a terrific delivery, with an extraordinarily smooth transition in dialogue. I appreciate that McLarty does all the author narration, in addition to the male voices … makes for a better listen. If you are a fan of Robie and Reel, you’ll enjoy. The alphabet soup of American agencies is loaded with bad guys and good guys and you’ll have fun deciding. Fun listen.
