Debbie Reynolds was such a hard worker. It's truly inspiring to hear her life story and all her experiences. The story is very engaging and her performance is truly remarkable especially considering she was 80 years old. What a work horse! Her tireless effort to preserve Hollywood's history is so remarkable! Her constant touring till the end of her life is just WOW!
Love & Light and Blessings so Bright!
I Love Debbie
Debbie because she's the best
I laughed and wept she is an amazing lady
Debbie baby you rock, Kudos and Kisses
I am very sorry to criticise such a wonderful star but her narrating is just woeful. It sounds like she has had a stroke; her pauses are all in the wrong place. She pauses like there's a full stop and then she continues on with that sentence. Pretty poor. I haven't been able to finish the book it's that bad.
Loved it!!!! Debbie Reynolds' life has been full of high highs and some very low lows and she pulls no punches in describing these .... but always with humour. Her delicious Texan accent, not heard in many of her movies, is slight but it's there and it adds to the charm of this book. I totally loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in Hollywood and wonderful woman who truly is "unsinkable"!!
This is the first audio book I've actually read through completely, so this question would be hard to answer for me. From what I have heard listening to others, while checking to see what would interest me, is the reading by Ms. Reynolds was my only complaint. It was a little distracting. I know it was her story and her right to read it, but she didn't read it like it was.
I was really taken back by how badly she was treated by the men in her life. It really makes you understand how hard it is for someone who makes a lot of money to find someone honest and caring. It makes it clear why someone like Debbie can't find personal happiness. If you marry someone successful in the same business there's competition with egos. If you marry outside it's hard to find someone who isn't a shyster.
I read her first book, but most of it was already things I've already known from following her career over the last 60 years and the news This book got down to the nitty gritty and filled in areas that weren't covered before. I was enlightened about many questions I had been curious about.
I think I was surprised at how much she was taken advantage of. I'd heard from her interviews and first book about Eddie Fisher and Harry Karl, but her last husband was new information, for sure. That marriage wasn't news. I knew she remarried a third husband, but most things about that marriage wasn't known. I don't know how she managed to survive so much. You would think there would be a law to protect people from fraudulence like this. They have stupid laws for everything else. This man should be in prison.
The only other thing that I would add that's worth mentioning, I guess, is to thank Ms. Reynolds for clearing up all the bad information that is out there, and for so many years of good entertainment. I had the pleasure of seeing one of her shows, back in the 80's at Harrah's in Reno. I became aware of her when I was about 11 watching "Tammy" No matter how old she will get, she will always be a beautiful Debbie. She never changes!
Yes, it was well written and the narrator made it more interesting...she helped you feel like she was speaking directly to you
none, there is only one Debbie Reynolds
all were good
There is no 'story' here, just Debbie Reynolds whining about her past divorces and how the world had dumped on her. She made very poor choices in men and finances, yet she takes no responsibility for it. Therefore the book is just a 'woe is me' diatribe.
Not really, I love biographies and autobiographies.
Everything! While I admire Ms Reynold's age and applaud her for being a survivor, the narration of this book is painful as she struggles to finish each sentence and then have the breath for the next.
I better not answer this :)
Don't waste your money on this.
I adore Debbie Reynolds, even though I've only seen a few of her classic movies (now watching many more) and know her best from Will & Grace. Listening to her life of MANY ups and downs was inspiring, knowing that she's always maintained such a positive, happy stature. At 10+ hours, this was certainly worth the money, not for just time - but the pure enjoyment of listening to her hypnotic voice. I truly enjoyed every minute.
Yes, I loved it and anyone will love it I am sure.
Debbie, because she is Debbie.
When she had to hide from her husband who was going to kill her. Yet wished she has peed first.
The Unsinkable Debbie Reynolds. AKA A life well lived.
I am a big fan of Debbie and love her books. I think any fan will. She makes you laugh, cry and think. She is one of a kind and a gift to us all.
