The story flows from the series, so you have to be a fan to understand it all
She really personalizes each characters voice, each distinctly different
always a fun listen
I like all the Jane Yellowrock audio editions better than the print version because, good as the print versions are, reader Khristine Hvam adds so much to the listen.
I love the intricacies of Jane's personality and growth as the books progress.
She is a great reader, and this is up there with her best.
Yes, it was hard to make myself stop listening, even when tasks were calling me.
I always cannot wait until the next Jane Yellowrock book comes out, and this one was no exception. Go Faith! Go Jane!
Caution: Don't try to read the Jane Yellowrock books out of order. The emotional payoff won't be there if you do. She starts off ruthless, and with each book we see her start to make emotional ties to the people in her life. She really is the kid "raised by wolves". Lots of big guns, thrilling action, and snappy sarcasm, but this book we see her take on more of beast's protective side and start to admit that she has built herself a "family". Jane is no one's cliched feminine lead, and she takes some warming to. the series is starting to reveal some of the story's depth in a very interesting way - both in Jane's history and in the vampire political world. Solid, satisfying, and action-packed.
Excellent, Intriguing, Humorous
The interaction between the characters, especially Soul and Jane; Rick and Bruiser; Jane and the Beast.
When Molly's husband came clean with Jane. Also, when Rick finally had the talk with Jane.
When Molly's husband came clean with Jane. Also Beast and Jane's feelings over kids.
I love the series. It gets better with each books. Jane is a very strong character. She holds her own throughout the book. Her right hand man/partner/"brother" is also an excellent supporting character to her. He aids her in her focus and keeps her on track. I love the reader. She makes the series come to life. The audible series would not be the same with Khristine Hvam. Faith Hunter gives our characters their voice. Khristine Hvam makes them audible. I preordered this audible book because I love the series and wanted it as soon as it was available.. Thank you Faith Hunter for the series. Thank you Khristine Hvam for helping the characters come to an audible life. Faith Hunter your choice for the audible series was right on spot when you selected Khristine Hvam. Kiddos to you!!!
Ms Hvam's narration is perfect. Her many voices are a great addition to the story and to each character.
This is the fifth book in the series and Faith Hunter has hit her stride. Characters expand, plot lines are explained and she leaves room for more books as her characters grow and information is revealed. It made me laugh and cry. Jane's compassion and humanity are really out in the open as she deals with friends from the children's home. I would bet that these new characters will appear again in future books.
I've read or listened to all of the series, and this one was one of the best. Jane has her usual job for Leo that gets her in to all kinds of trouble. And what an emotional roller coaster she has to deal with, from Rick and Bruiser. I felt to the brink of tears at times, from the bruises dealt to her heart. She stays strong though, and does her job with some help from an old friend, she thought she had lost forever. This story is packed with many different kinds of emotions, humor and lots of vampire slaying action. One not to miss, if you're a fan of the series, and the narration is excellent.
Amber and Izzy
The characters are very well developed. I enjoy the plot...non-stop action! If you like "Dresden, Mercy Thompson, Sookie Stackhouse", this is sooo worth the listen!
I enjoyed learning alittle bit more about Soul, but, Jane is my fav!
I enjoyed her narration. She gets the story, and performs it well!
I couldn't stop listening. I listened to it in 2 days.
I wasn't sure when I first started this series I liked the two parts of Jane but the more I listened the more I enjoyed the duality. Now I can not get enough and hate that it takes so long in between books.
I am not sure there is another series exactly like this one. It is similar, I guess, to Laurell Hamilton's Necromancer series without "jumping the shark" with over raunchy sex. Faith Hunter keeps the intrigue of sizzle and has you wanting more.
Ms. Hvam, does a great job of getting to the right inflection and tone of each character. She does a great job with these books and I could not imagine another voice reading them.
I loved the conversation between the Pastor and Jane. I will probably quote that out in the world.
Start at the first book and enjoy them all. Please Ms. Hunter write quickly. I am so excited for the next book!
Blood Trade is an excellent addition to the Jane Yellowrock series. The book has a good plot, there's plenty of action and as I learned more about Jane and her supporting cast of characters, I came to like them a whole lot (love is too strong a word). Plus, the bad guys are really, really bad and the good guys are, at heart, pretty good.
I like to see the main characters grow up some as a result of their experiences, and Faith Hunter does a wonderful job of making Jane grow. I especially liked the inner theological dialogue and the ongoing spiritual journey.
Good job, Faith! When's the next one coming out??
