yes. everything about this book is unexpected especially from a well know author with several books under her belt.
quinn has been my favorite character since he was introduced in the series. he is always helping other even if he's brooding the whole time.
all his performances are good. i have listened to several other books he's performed and i have yet to be disappointed.
when blay and quinn finally realize that they were truely ment to be together. even after all the stuff they went through, it's comforting to know that love is possible if you allow it.
The way the book is narrated. Just amazing. Loved Blay and Quinn of course. Enjoyed their story. But must emphasize a big part of this whole series is that it is narrated by Jim Frangione.
I just cant find one like it! I enjoy the ghostwalkers series by Christine feehan. Another great narrator, Tom Stetschulte.
His voice is perfect... deep and serious when needed. Brings the characters to life and makes they strong, sexy, conflicted, wow just does an excellent job.
Great story as always.
Yes and it was on par.
This is my favorite series but I was worried that I might be put off by the homosexual aspect of this installment. But J.R. ward is a master storyteller and it flowed so seamlessly that it was just a love story centered among the riveting plot of the series as a whole.
Gimme a good story and I'm happy!
So YES! Jim Frangione is my car BFF. It's impossible for me to be in my car for any length of time without him reading me a Black Dagger Brotherhood story!
Nothing comes to mind. Qhuinn & Blay were the first m/m couple for me, so I don't have a lot of experience with this type of romance. That said, I love knowing that love is love and attraction is attraction, regardless of the participants' gender.
He really brings these characters to life! Even the shellans. He hits the nail on the head every time. I love his voice, his inflections, his tone.
Only if you read from Book 1 -5. It would be hard to keep up if you don't know the key players. I am not talking the two main characters either but the 'many'!
I could not put this thing down. I could barely sleep just like the first books! It was NOT an overly romantic, too detail dive into the main couple's relationship. It was many stories but not too many to get confused. They intersect when you least expect it. It is great to revisit the characters I know and they were just like I remembered them. Here's my snip: new characters-interesting, pace-quick, transitions-great , the romance-high, sex-hot, the slang-duh, forbidden relationships-everywhere, the formal dialect & class snobbery-still there!, suspense-lots, lessers-less!! Seriously it is great to be back to looking forward to the next release.
He is AWESOME!
There is a surprise person in here that shows up and I can't imagine anyone would have predicted!
So many books...so little time! :)
Ahhh...the suspense!! Finally Lover At Last is here, and Blay and Qhuinn finally have their chance...or do they? Where does one start in reviewing this book!?!? Lover At Last has frustrating, suspenseful, intense, romantic, sad, and happy moments to name a few, and new characters and possible love interests!?!? J.R. Ward has a way of filling her book with OMG moments, and she definitely doesn't hold back in here.
Qhuinn and Blay have literally had their ups and downs, but as Qhuinn jumps in and attempts to save the day yet again, his near death experience serves as a much needed wake up call. As Qhuinn finally realizes what he wants, is it too late? If only people could speak their mind from the beginning!!
Yes...it is a bit predictable, but I thought it was so worth listening to, and I am very interested to see where the stories continue to go!! Trez, Assail, Xcor, and Layla...so many stories going on...not to mention the next book is going to focus on Wrath...there is a lot more coming!! Now until the next book...only a year away! Hope patience pays off!! ;)
Power, loyalty, honesty.
J.R. Ward's writing style. She never gives in to the easy answers and is straight forward in her writing. Powerful ideas elegantly expressed. I also like the odd phrases she makes up to describe actions in progress.
I'm not sure Jim was comfortable with the reading in this story...paused where there were none and had unique twists of phrase but his timber and voice were good.
Hold on to your undies ladies...if you wear 'em!
Lover at last is a worthy addition to the black dagger brotherhood series and brings the story full circle about a plot issue that developed in the very beginning of the series. It's a satisfying read.
Believer in what you can't see
Yes, I don't know how she does it, but J.R. Ward out does herself with every additional book in this series. Wow.
My all time favorite in this series is Rhage, but in this book it is Blah. Blah has taken a lot of rejection from Quinn and it was nice that he finally received the love he deserve from both his parents and Quinn.
He brings a great depth to this series. He brings a lot of how the characters feel and who they are through his narrations. Great with the male characters and brings strength to the female characters.
Yes it is, but no I didn't. There is no way I could sit 23 hours straight and do nothing else, but the story was so good that the time just flew.
I highly recommend this series.
I've been waiting since Book 4 for a the Quinn & Blay story, and I can say I wasn't disappointed. Well done, and fully fleshed out.
This book like many others in the series is not just about the principles but those that surround them, and even introduction of new characters. Ward has outdone herself again.
Love this series but I feel so many storylines have been dropped and would make the series much better. The narrator is awful PLEASE change him! Not sure if I would continue the series because I am excited for the next book or just to see what the next book might involve.
