Like all of J.R. Wards book, you are going to experience the full range of emotions. I laughed through most of the book. Of course, there were also many tears.
In many ways, this book provided closet to the interaction between Quinn and Blade. While I am not into M/M story lines, this book is good! It had the passion and excitement of all of J.R. Wards books. Blade and Quinn are very hot characters. In addition, the new supporting characters were wonderful. I am eager for the next book.
Average. My 2nd least favorite of all the Black Dagger brotherhood books.
Quinn... complex yet fun.
...would not make a movie of this book.
Waiting for the next book. I miss the themes of the first five books... those were so hot!!!!
This book ranks among the best books I've listened to in four years
The pace, the story line, the passion and the narrator
Yes, he is my favorite narrator bar none. So much so, I am currently listening to a new author I found by tracking the books he has performed.
This is the first book where I was so wrapped up that I had a visceral reaction during the conflict scenes. My pulse was racing and I was bereft. Odd, but definitely notable! Between the author and the narrator...I was there!
Oh dear reader I was one of many who waited with baited breath and saved a credit just to wait for the “pre-order” link to appear for this novel. Once it did, I eagerly pre-ordered the book, set my alarm and woke up with its chime to download my new present to myself only to find I was nervous about pressing play. “What if it’s horrible? What if it doesn’t live up to my expectations?” Let me assure you all of this anxiety was truly wasted. Lover at Last is absolutely brilliant! Given the main characters of the book are not your “typical” M/F roles, please do not let this deter you from this download. The love story of Quinn and Blaylock has been building for some time, and true fans of the BDB series would not dare skip over this book simply because of a matter of a gender shift in the main characters sexual preference.
Lover at Last takes you to places in your imagination you did not expect to go. One minute you may be vacuuming you living room while listening to your audio book and the next you will find yourself sitting down on the edge of your couch in tears pleading the Quinn to just tell him. From the listener’s point of view there are too many favorable and emotional scenes to pick a favorite and too many raw emotions from both Quinn and Blay to not want to step in be their therapist.
JR Ward also sets up ambitions side stories with Layla and Score, (such a tender moment when he disarms himself to approach her) the shadow brothers Trez and the laid back IAM and Assail with his possible love interest Marisol. The Lessening society even seems to have some new tricks up their powdery smelling sleeves. I know many readers are looking forward to a particular couple in the next book, but I am hoping to still hear about them all even if only one is the focal point.
WARNING: For those of you who want to jump into this series, Lover at Last is not the place to do so. I plead with you to go back and listen to the earlier audiobooks to get your background primed and ready. Stepping in at this point would be like attending a family reunion with so much drama unfolding and you have no idea what is going on until afterwards when someone has to explain everything to you.
I liked the way Ms Ward connected the previous books and also opened the story for a few more books. I was afraid that she was getting tired of the Black Dagger Brotherhood's series.
It was sexy, romantic and open. Ms Ward was not afraid of write about two men love.
When Blay met Qhuinn at the bar.
It is never too late to start a new life.
Thank you Ms Ward, this book made me fall in love with the Brotherhood again.
I love books, but busy mom that doesnt have time to read them. So having audible has been a blessing to me. Shower or car listening is great
I had been waiting for this one to come out and now am waiting inpatiently for the next one.
I've enjoyed all the B.D.B. books, there are times of surprise, times of laughter, and always enjoyable love.
When I started this series I was doing it to fill in time waiting for another book I like, but after each one I had to continue onto the next, always wanting more. So I definitely would suggest this book to others, ecspecially if you were/are a Twilight series fan.
The best part of this book for me was that J.R. Ward, took such risk in this one. There's been much contraversey in the news lately about theses subjects(I won't ruine it for you on what it is) and I was so glad to see someone express the the loving side of it. And it was great to have the diversity.
Thank you J.R. Ward!
Audiobooks are relaxing and 'food for the soul'.
I love all of J.R. Ward's BBD books; however, I don't think this was one of the best. Though I was a little uncomfortable with the graphic m/m sex scenes, I'm glad the two main characters finally got together.
Qhuinn's induction into the BBD and his and Blay's talk at the bar.
There were quite a few favorable scenes throughout the who book. I can't pinpoint just one.
Definitely not all in one sitting. I think it was a little drawn out.
Quite a few new character storylines were introduced. I am eagarly anticipating where they will lead. Needless-to-say, I can't wait for the next installment.
I've listened to it twice already!! I had been waiting to read (hear) about Quinn & Blay's coming together that I was drawn to that storyline. I had to listen again to re-direct my focus to the overall book!
I love this series!
The best way to read.
Out of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, this book rates as an 9. I've been waiting to read more about Quinn and Blay for a while and J.R. Ward did not disappoint. The story picks up right where the last one left off.
Finding Lucas, Quinn being inducted and not John Matthew, Quinn and Blay getting together and Layla seeing Score again. I wasn't sure I wanted all to work out with Quinn and Layla's "young". Seems like it will be trouble in the future for Quinn.
He has done the whole series, so it is familiar and he produces the sexy voices I would imagine the members of the brotherhood would actually possess. However, some of the voices overlap and it can be confusing when 2 characters have the same voice.
Score's tenderness toward Layla. Quinn not "hooking up" with others, and his opening up to Blay...
As usual, new characters of interest are brought to the forefront, which makes me want to read more about them in the next book i.e. Score and Layla, Assail and Sola, Trez and the latest Chosen. This was a very entertaining book and I had a hard time putting it down. It stuck with me for a while as I pondered the events and characters of the story. I found myself labeling the young boys in my jiu jitsu calss as "pretrans".
I will be listening again...another wonderful Black Dagger Brotherhood story...and enough unresolved threads to keep me hoping that the next book is coming soon!
