I would definitely read this book again.
I can hardly wait for the last book in this series.
If it is Jeffrey Archer then it has to be good - in my opinion.
The first book in this series was excellent. The story and narrator were great. The second was good and so I looked forward to the continuing story of the Cliftons.and Barringtons. Too bad the story drifted away from them and into another direction. I finished the book, but was relieved to be done with it and from the description of the next book, it appears all of the characters I disliked the most will be featured. Too bad. I'm done.
The story was trivial! and very, very obvious!
so we have to wait becasue of the hanger ending ... so what ---that just means renting another audio download. SO why dont we all say'"OK Jeffrey we'll buy your books, now make them interesting!!!!!"
C'mon -- the whole trial thing was overplayed
Yea... end the book --- dont put in a saturday afternoon at the cinima serial cliff-hanger!
The book would improve significantly with a believable storyline and an ending. There is no ending.
The first two Clifton chronicles were great! This one was pathetic. The South American storyline was too far-fetched and the ending was non-existent. Jeffrey Archer ripped us off. I would throw the book at the wall in anger except that it was an audiobook and I love my IPod.
Perhaps but the South American accent was atrocious.
Loved the election, loved the reading of the will, loved the adoption, loved Seb's time at the boardinghouse in London. The South American story line/Harry posing as a pilot: dumb.
I am so mad at the way the book ended. I rightfully figured that the third book would tie up The Clifton Chronicles. This was the worst cliffhanger ever!
Like everybody else I felt that the ending was quite a let down. If Mr. Archer were to write a fourth book which would bring everything together I think he could redeem himself. As to the title I'm still trying to figure out what the best kept secret was. Don't think I'll read any other books by Jeffrey Archer - too expensive to trust another let down.
Alex Jennings was good I would not recommend anybody else.
None. The characters were good. I liked them all.
Yes, can I have a refund?
Great series, but the cliff-hanger ending is frustrating, with nearly a year to wait for the next installment. I should have waited before starting the series, particularly this book.
I agree with the other reviewers, this 3rd book seemed like filler.
Giles Barrington's whole MP campaign ran too long.
And after all that has happened with Harry and Emma, Seb would just run off?
Perhaps this was a ploy to create another villain for future books that involves the next generation?
Finally, what kind of an ending was that?!?!
And yes, like a pawn, I will “read” book 4.
After reading the reviews I almost did not download this third book in the Clifton Chronicles series, but am glad I did. Like all the other Jeffrey Archer books I have read over the years, this one is entertaining. It may not have the depth and craft of some of his other books, but it did not disappoint. I guess the negative reviews might have lowered my expectations, but I am glad I read Book 3, and looking forward to the final installation to see how everything resolves.
Join me on GoodReads too!
Perhaps it’s because I read all 3 books back to back (to back) that my interest is waning. Book 3 is just ok, like Book 2 it’s just more of the same… but that is the point of a saga isn’t it!
I’d recommend the series, but I would advise breaks in between. Book 4 is not due out until 2014, so that solves that problem!
Sort of. I am hooked on the Clifton Chronicles, so I had to listen. Overall, it was worth a listen, but I was disappointed.
The last book left us at a cliff hanger and now this one does. In my opinion, a good series includes books that can stand alone and have merit, not require you to read the next to get the rest of the story. I would definitely change the ending. I also would have picked fewer characters and really did them justice rather than get so scattered.
When the Rodin sculpture is opened up.
This question is redundant with the first.... If you are a Clifton Chronicles fan, you get more of the story. It just wasn't as good as the first, and if you were frustrated with how Book 2 ended, you will be super frustrated with the end of this one.
I hope we don't have to wait as long for Book 4, but I also hope Mr. Archer doesn't get sloppy with this series.
