This short essay was obviously written after the Sandy Hook shootings and I think it benefits from the emotion of the recent event. One thing is sure--we need cooperation and we need change and Steven King lays that need out that need perfectly.
I loved this audio. Thank you Stephen for speaking out about this subject. I agree with you about the gun control issue and hope Congress will do the right thing. It's very scary to think so many people die everyday from guns.
I really enjoyed this essay. King's writing style -which I love- used to voice his opinion makes for a strong combination. The performance is super !
As I don't live in the US my opinion on the subject is irrelevant, but I think it is less enjoyable if you happen to have and enjoy those high powered weapons.
The accuracy in the way the media sensationalizes a catastrophic event.
I think he accurately read the story as it was suppose to be read and how Stephen King wanted it to be read.
It's interesting to see what Stephen Kings views are, and his timing is relevant.
I may not agree 100% with Stephen Kings views, but I understand where he is coming from.
I think the problem lies within the lack of stringent background checks. I fear the possibility, however small it may be, for a hostile government take over, or the government taking over the people someday (history repeating). The need for powerful guns may be viable, to protect our families or our rights as Americans.
Have not read the print version
The honesty of the author. Anyone that reads or listens will ponder these words for many a day. And when the next tragedy occurs and, it most certainly will occur, the profoundness of his logic will ring true.
One sitting and a repeat.
My comments are from the perspective of a gun owner, clay and trap participant, hunter, collector and vocal protector of the 2nd amendment. Having said that, I not only concur with the writers assessment, but have written all members of congress to suggest that enough is enough. No I am not willing to give up all my weapons, however I have some 30 that I would deem unnecessary and dangerous if someone were able to to breach my locked safe. They will go.
Short and to the point.
Well done. I can hear Mr. King.
Too bad fiction is taken so seriously by some who are perhaps not in touch with reality. Mr. King has written so many books that are thought provoking, funny, hateful and oh yes down right scary. I believe his intention is to make us think.
I personally don't see how anyone (left or right wing) can argue with the logic Stephen Kings uses in this book. I would like to see this book passed out to everyone in our country, its a perspective on gun control that could save a lot of lives without taking away our right to bear arms.
The narrator did a good job of showing voice inflection.
No but they did a good job with this book.
it was though provoking regardless of which side of the gun control belief you sit on.
It was only 69 cents. It was worth the purchase and short enough you can knock it out in one sitting.
Thought provoking, timely
This is the first I have listened to, but it is professional and straight forward. An objective presentation of highly controversial subject matter.
"Can You Hear Me Now, Joe Biden?"
An outstanding short read from a prolific writer. A somewhat different twist on a subject that has been covered widely in the press.
