This plot and the constant repetition of phrases and shifts in time and settings teamed together to make the experience a complete waste.
Keeping the plot "some way" believable / plausable
The story changed direction eratically .... a bland enough start ..... gaining traction and direction, then became more and more ridiculous. I think I got to chapter 23/24 and simply, could not listen to it anymore. It was my first Ted Dekker experience and sorry Ted, unfortunatley, my last.
The Narrator did an excellent job with really bad material
stupid story. I have read previously books by Ted Dekker and liked them but this book was not worth writing or reading.
No one. As a writer myself I am perfectly aware of what incredible tales one can concoct -- Ted Dekker does just that in what seems like a very promising book. But when that same writer has no idea where he's going -- IT REALLY PISSES ME OFF. It is down right infuriating. Dekker paints an extremely interesting premise - two kids trapped accidentally in a mental hospital where all kinds of crazy things in and out of reality take place but apparently Dekker doesn't even know which is which himself. This book leads nowhere. This book should be arrested for being such a %^$@ waste of time.
Figured out what he was writing about. What was his story? What happened in the end to the other central character -- my god there were only two - you'd think he could figure it out.
He must have written this in middle school after a born-again experience. Perfectly awful, horrible narration... a true waste of time. Sad, because Dekker usually writes well and constructs great stores.
I think so, because it's a bit of mind bender and sometimes they are fun to read/listen to again
The real or not real aspect.
who's the crazy one
Great book, decent climax, kinda fun how the ending ties into another (several other) series of Ted Dekker - though if you've never read Showdown it probably makes little sense.
The lack of story line...no plot. This book was a meandering through a drug induced hallucination and was not worth the paper on which it was written.
Someone who could pronounce the word "couldn't" correctly.
All of them.
If you like books that make no sense and take forever to explain themselves, this one is for you. I think I picked it out of the wrong section, or maybe it was filed wrong. It belongs in sci fi or fantasy. So if that's your thing...
Although I really enjoy Ted Dekker books, this download crashed my device. I can not review the story because of the error. I am afraid that I should not have downloaded from a site that I was not familiar. Now my device is unusable.
