Like the second book, this one started a bit slowly giving insight into the past and characters, though this time it is woven better into the current timeline. Once it gets going it moves well with masterful story and narration.
love this series. love it. reader has great voices and consistency, I just think he's a little slow, so I.speed up to 1.5x. otherwise, great!
If you want a book half of which is about a conniving, backstabbing people who's main goal in life seems to be to dominate others and "win" literally every single conversation that they are in then this is the book for you.
This book was supremely frustrating to listen to. The worst thing about it was having to listen to a bunch of these domitane bitches find fault with their husband, their slaves, each other and who ever happens to be in their presence.
Aside from the warded man, the book is devoid of any likable characters whatsoever. Every female has the exact same personality. And I mean exact same. What personality is that? Well being a grade a arrogant bitch of course.
I could make other criticisms but I don't want to waste any more of my time. It was only through sheer will that I was able to finish it. I will NOT be getting any others in this series.
I am hoping that this episode in the series is important build up to an epic end. I found the book to be slow, drawn out, and left me looking for the potential I found in the first book. Not to say that I did not enjoy the book, but the long wait between books and the payout have left me wanting.
These books are some of the best I've listened to so far... They are simply captivating! Peter Brett's creativity and dark twists exceeds those of George R.R. Martin in my mind.
