This was not my favorite book in the series (mostly because I was annoyed with Lena's indecisiveness and the cliché love triangle). overall loved the series though! sad that it is over! Absolutely loved Sarah Drew's narration of all the books!
I loved this book and the story telling. I love how it switched between Lena and Hana. I hated the ending though. It left it so abrupt and unfinished. There wasn't enough closure that I was looking for. But overall great book!
I usually hate the 3rd book in a series. I'm sure part of it is me being upset with loosing all my new character friends; but I also feel many writers get sloppy with their stories or continued character development in order to end the story. Oliver did not do that. She let the story end without forcing closures. She let her characters continue to expand and grow till the very last words.
Drew's innocence and immature voice helped create a great experience when I listened to the story too.
The story is really well done. Sarah Drew's narration is phenomenal. She does a great job portraying characters through largely internal monologues.
It ended well but this was a challenge to get through. So much of the middle is limbo, which is understandable. But the beginning was also kind of anticlimactic given the cliffhanger from the previous book. I hated the dual narratives until close to the end. Really what kept me going was the beautiful writhing and Sarah Drew's breathtaking narration/reding.
The emotions that are presented in this book are so very well written that you can feel where everyone is coming from and can't wait to find out where they are going. The angst and anger, broken dreams and hollow future projected put me on edge and kept me listening. Yet the personal stories and humanization of the futuristic landscape kept it on a level that I could connect with. I found that I liked the changing of the point of view narration, sometimes coming from Lena, sometimes from Hana. It wasn't a story told from just one side or one point of view. It kept the story fresh and pumping.
Definitely worth a listen.
Part 3 of 3 in a series.
