Man the last book is SUCH a disappointment!! The story felt rushed and chaotic, not slow and contemplative like the first two. The main character is now officially annoying going back and forth and back and forth. Main characters become uncharacteristic without enough explanation and the end has this pretty rushed bow placed on top, while missing way too much detail. Its tough to make a whole series successful, but the first two books were at least cool.
Yes of course.
Yes, Sarah Drew is an wonderful narrator. I think she brought a lot of depth to the characters.
The end, which was very bittersweet, because i loved what was happening but I was SO SAD that it was over.
Smoke me a kipper; I'll be back for breakfast.
Lauren Oliver is really a joy to read. Her skill level is definitely higher than I've come to expect from YA authors. I also was fortunate to listen to the audiobook version of these books which are narrated by the very excellent Sarah Drew. She especially shined in this book doing both Hana and Lena's voices.
This book has the perspectives of both Hana and Lena. Usually this method doesn't work well but for this story particularly it was great. We get to see the unraveling from the resistances' side and also the cured side. It was especially interesting to me to see how Hana changed after the cure as this concept was intriguing to me from the beginning.
You still have a love-triangle technically in this book but I was okay with it due to the personality change in Alex for the last two books. It's an interesting foil. I also appreciated that there wasn't a lot of make-out scenes. She focused on the real story here - the desire for the freedom to choose.
Female YA authors often can't close the deal on the story. Although I felt it was obvious how the series would end, it was neat to see the details and think about the ramifications on the society. And no epilogue yea! She doesn't feel the need to lay out exactly where things will go but there's enough hints to leave you satisfied.
I enjoyed the book as part of the trilogy
It left me wanting a different ending
No I liked it all. It ws very enjoyable and I liked the character analysis
Yes, because you can sit back and relax while the narrator paints the picture in your mind!
The little girl playing with the doll head and singing.
She brings to the book a voice and emotions.
This 3rd book was as good as the first 2 and left me wanting more. It was a bit slower but I liked how the chapters switched between two characters and their point of views! As a whole, I recommend this dystopian trilogy!
It was really good I couldn't wait to rea des it . The only bad part was it ended
Whole different world but not . It just a book that once you started it
Was hard to put down
When she first came face to face with her mother
The ending left me wanting more. It came to fast
Love this site! I have a very busy job, so listening to audio books enables me to keep up on great stories!
Way too dramatic.
I really liked the first two books. This book was SO dark! Though in all fairness, with Requiem as a title, I should have known. I skipped ahead several chapters to see if the ending was lighter, and even the ending was heavy! Not her best work. Will be requesting a refund.
I felt a bit cheated by this ending. It felt rushed and hollow. If I didn't know it was a trilogy, I would expect another book just to really make the story whole and complete. Overall, it is a beautifully crafted and written story...just needed a bit more.
Sarah Drew is magnificent and was a perfect choice for this series.
Audio books are the best :)
I think I formed a really high standard for this series based off the first two books and this third book just didn't live up to that standard.
The story was still incredibly exciting and well performed. The author writes beautifully and shared some really interesting thoughts through this last book. I think I was just let down a little by how everything ended; with the story and with the characters.
I'll stop there so as to not give anything away but I still highly recommend this series, just wanted a tiny bit more from this book.
