This was a good steamy listen. Don't listen to while driving or operating machinery! It can hold you transfixed at times. The characters were enjoyable but predictable. The main female character is sexy and spunky and the male character is an ass at first but then is captured by her appeal. It's a good, fun listen and hard to put down! I think I did nothing all day!
They should have left it just as it was on Fanfiction.
The romance was lost in SEX, SEX and more SEX. There was no connection between the characters. I wasn’t even looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
A plot other than quarrel - fuck - argue - fuck - hate on you - fuck
This obviously appeals to a large number of listeners, but whereas I found Tangled - a similar book set in an office environment with a sexual tension building - hilarious, this was just dreadful. He was a dick and she was a shallow shrew.
Grace Grant did an excellent job with what she was given.
Note to self: check out friends reviews on GoodReads before committing to a book.
The book was un-memorable
If I absolutely had to choose I would say that my favorite character is Chloe
I had no problem taking breaks with this book.
The overall story for "Beautiful Bastard" is alright. I read other reviews where there was a plethora of people who loved the series so I decided to give it a shot. I've only listened to the first book from this series and decided that I wanted to change books immediately. Fortunately I found both "This Man" and "Gabriel's Inferno" which were definitely far more enchanting. At this time I'm not impressed at all by "Beautiful Bastard" but again I've only listened to the first book. I may change my mind once I finish the series but I don't have high expectations. At some point I'll listen to the rest of the series before I can give a more accurate review. I generally like to finish what I start no matter how painful. Right now I'm not anxious at all to see what will happen next with these characters.
I wanted to like this book but I just couldn't get in to it.
I doubt it very seriously if I will try another book by Christina Lauren or Grace Grant. The book will have to come highly recommended and the reviews outstanding before I try another one. I purchased this back in July and I still have 1 hour left. OMG, just plain awful. Hope, it's not too late to return.
The most disappointing was the excessive use of the word cock. Please understand, I do enjoy a good erotic romance novel, however I think the authors could have been a little more creative in describing the male organ.
Becca Batoe or David de Vries would have been great narrators for this book. The novel was written in two voices. It was very difficult to understand when the male was telling the story or female. The narrator did not change voices.
One, just one redeeming quality. I understand this was fan fiction of Fifty Shades of Grey. I can say it was better than most fan fiction I've read. The authors didn't copy, they wrote their own story.
I bought this due to all of the good reviews. I found it boring, boring, boring. We hate each other but let's have lots of sex. I couldn't get into this book at all. I didn't like how it would switch back and forth from the female character's perspective to the male character's perspective, I found it annoying. The narration wasn't very good on the sex scenes. Story was unrealistic and boring. Save your credit.
I have NO time to read so Audible is perfect! I listen while commuting and even at the gym. My interests vary from month to month.
I was a Grey s fan but was bored by the time book two ended then I couldn't get past 20 pages of book three. This book series is a similar style but I love it so much more. Bennett and Chloe are great. I cant get enough of this couple. I want more and more and more!
hmmm. Let me see. I loved Ben's dirty mouth during sex and Chloe's strong personality and no bullshit attitude as the female lead. I can't figure out why it is though that in so many romance novels men bang anywoman, anywhere and as many times as they can and are still sought after by so many other women (and perhaps even some men :)) and women are almost always portrayed as these very selective women who have had either no past lovers or very little experience. Well, in any case, this is a steamy romance well worth the credit and time.
Engaging read, but I couldn't understand why the male lead was so contemptuous of the female protagonist. I could definitely understand from her point of view the frustration of dealing with a jerk of a boss, but the level of contempt Bennett seemed to have for her was alienating and unjustified.
