This book ranks among my top five. The humor was first rate. The characters are memorable. Ms. Redfield did a great job.
Taryn is strong, profane and funny.
I was somewhat disappointed because there is a portion missing in the audio book that was in the original kindle version of the book. Other than that, I liked the book and the overall performance. It was awesome to hear it and was glad that the images in my head were portrayed similarly in audio version.
I'm a lover of books, both read and audible.
I started reading this book because of the reviews that I read. Majority of them praised the Suzanne for being a fantastic story teller. I’m extremely happy I decided to plug in my ear buds and listen. The main characters of the story are amazing; Taryn and Trey are both wolf shifters.
Taryn is a sarcastic, no nonsense, latent wolf shifter that doesn’t tolerate anyone’s crap. Being a latent wolf shifter means she is unable to shift into her wolf form, which people tend to mistake as a weakness. It is not. I think this gives her more strength to prove herself as a wolf shifter and an alpha female.
Trey is an alpha male of his own pack. He was label as a psychotic wolf early in life because he has a tendency to become feral when in his wolf form. When Trey is feral the animal nature overrides his humanity and he loses Trey within the wolf. He was exiled from his pack by his own father as a kid and forced to grow up fast, to lead his own pack.
The plot, Taryn is unwillingly forced into an engagement that she didn’t chose nor does she want. Trey is in need of some very strong and powerful allies, which Taryn father has both. They decided to help each other with their individual problems.
The story keeps at an excited pace, that doesn’t let the listener get bored or drift off from the book. There is tons of humor and witty dialogue that kept me laughing to myself throughout the book. The interaction between Taryn and Trey’s grandmother is priceless. There are a lot of romance scenes and graphic language throughout the book that I really enjoyed. Some might think they were too excessive but not me.
I enjoyed listening to Jill narration of the book. I think she did a good job distinguishing the voices of the different characters within the book. I hope she does the narration for book 2, as well.
The story was fun and kept me listening for hours.
Taryn was a hilariously witty and powerful heroine!
Yes. I actually bought this one because I loved Jill Redfield in the Sylvia Day Crossfire Series. I really enjoy her ability to differentiate between characters.
Eh, I have the kindle and audio only because it was cheaper to get both then one or the other... haha so preference.
It kept me reading and thinking about it when I wasn't reading(listening_) Seriously just a great story, I didn't see any of it coming...Which is awesome usually in books like this you can see all the trials a mile away.
I love her voice, she made the audio version. So much so when I did read I only heard her voice in my head.
Sometimes, Love isn't what you thought it was
GOOD for sale or credit!
i'm a romance's lice! i crawl all over it... :D
This book is amazing. And it amazes me more that the writer is self-published. It was crazy good that i would have thought she was an established writer already.
Anyhoooo... This is a really good start to a really good series. The story wasn't that original, but the female lead totally is. I have never come across such a dry tenacious sarcastic strong independent funny yet adorable heroine such as her.
The male lead was also a really consistent character. From the get go, he had been the strong broody alpha male and never backed down from there on. Though he was sweet, but he never was that mushy gooey romantic type. He was strong and possessive and yet he was a kind understanding alpha in his pack. He was HAWT! no... Hot is his the definition of hot!!!!!
The story was captivating. Plots were believable. Relatable. Suzanne wrote this book in a fast consistent pace that i found very refreshing. Instead of getting into small unnecessary details like other writers, she got right to the point. She also did a really good job explaining the internal dialogues of both hero and the heroine. It was rather delicious to hear what they were thinking of each other. And the sex... was really interesting (AHEM AHEM).
The story came to life by my favorite narrator of the whole world, Jill Redfield. She's a chameleon. She gave voices to all the characters and made them so realistic and that much more interesting. I like how she did that throaty calming voice for the hero. It's exactly how i imagine his voice would be. Thank you!
It was an unexpected delicious treat. I finished this book almost in 1 sitting. Sadly i can't find any information about the date of the coming-soon sequel. Hopefully soon cause i'm definitely craving for more "wolfy claiming"!
Grab it! can't be wrong! :D
Tips: for those who already LISTENED/READ this book and crave for more. Go to Suzanne Wright's website you will find uncut/deleted sex scene but i must warn you it's super graphic! it's not for the light-hearted. I wasn't surprise at all that that scene didn't make the cut when published. YES! it was that graphic.... PS: DO NOT READ THE UNCUT SCENE IF YOU HAVEN'T READ/LISTEN to this book.
Say something about yourself!
Beautiful, Paranormal, Lovestory
Jill Redfield gives an amazing performance as she did in the Crossfire novels. This book was a very good paranormal lovestory but Jill made it into a great one
When Trey and Taran finally trusted each other enough to share their feelings and complete the mating bond it got to me.
I found this book very well written and performed. I had to listen straight through the whole thing. It captivated me to the point I could "see" the story like a movie.
Enthusiastic listener =)
There's no explanation to how fantastic this book is.
Although the paranormal is not my first choice, this book is a must have / must read....many times.
The story and the performance are phenomenal. The sex is enveloping. The characters are strong and distinct. Hopefully the rest of the pack is this good =)
Credit: my $10 rule overcame the use of my credit HOWEVER, I would gladly have spent the credit on this one.
Audiobooks are relaxing and 'food for the soul'.
I have only listened to the audio, which was great.
Rachel Vincent's Shifter Series. Despite the initial denials, you can't stop fate when it comes to "true mates".
Taryn. Her strong character was refreshing despite her past and circumstances.
"To Tame a Feral Mate".
I absolutely enjoyed the banter between Taryn and Greta. I am eagarly anticipating the next installment on audio.
