Characters are flat and iconic. The dialog was trite and unimaginative. The story was an afterthought and the erotic scenes were shifted into without warning and at inappropriate times. These things were compounded by an unemotional and dry reading.
I have read better fan fiction, most of which is horribly written, but at least it's free! The plot is formulaic and paper thin, as are the characters. The sex is crude porn, which might be OK if the main character didn't come off like a 16-year-old girl. Oh, excuse me, a "feisty" little thing that learns how to be a "good girl" and "take it" (while shouting "no" and calling her man every curse word the author could think of). To add insult to injury, Wright constantly insults the reader's intelligence by saying Taryn's a strong, independent woman.
If you're after base, unimaginative sex with heavy male dominance and a side of fantasy, I guess this book is for you. Ditto if you're a regular paranormal romance reader/listener who wants to try something more hardcore. If you have any interest in plots, action, love, character development, romance, strong female characters, or engaging dialogue, keep looking.
Fantasy, sci-fi, Motorcycles, and my granddaughter. And I am a rail road engineer.
Less graphic sex scenes. The story itself was good. But the sex scenes were far too long, far too graphic, far too often. In fact, in fact, this author makes Laurel K Hamilton look like a children's writer.Mind you, I have nothing against a good sex scene where it's called for, but this author just went way over the top. Instead of adding to the plot, she distracted from it. A shame too, because this book really had the makings of being a good series.
I don't know. Perhaps if the sex scenes were toned down a bit. The story itself is not bad.
Her performance was average. She seemed to get into the different parts, but the voices all sounded the same. Perversely enough, her best performance was the sex scenes..
If graphic sexual descriptions offend you, this is definitely not the series for you.
I loved the dialogue between characters. I downloaded this book because I saw its rating on the listener's scroll bar and thought why not try a new author. I was not disappointed. I will download the second book for sure. I did think that there could have been more action or deception to the story plot but overall I enjoyed the book.
I liked all the different character personalities and the fact that the main charater was a strong female role. I love lots of dialogue and banter back and forth.
I have listened to Sylia Day Bared to You servies by Jill Redfield and love how she acts out the role rather than just reading words on a page. She makes you forget that she is playing all the parts.
The sarcasm was hillarious to listen to. You know it is good when you are smiling and laughing out loud while on the treadmill:)
Audiobooks are relaxing and 'food for the soul'.
I have only listened to the audio, which was great.
Rachel Vincent's Shifter Series. Despite the initial denials, you can't stop fate when it comes to "true mates".
Taryn. Her strong character was refreshing despite her past and circumstances.
"To Tame a Feral Mate".
I absolutely enjoyed the banter between Taryn and Greta. I am eagarly anticipating the next installment on audio.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
Wow!!! What an awesome find! This book was fantastic. It had 2 wonderful characters in Trey and Taryn and a whole host of fabulous supporting characters. I'm very happy to hear that it's been picked up and will continue into a series. Trey is an uber alpha male (literally) and Taryn is tough as nails, but so funny and sweet too. There was tons of angst, drama and the sex- Oh Lord! The scenes were smoking hot!!! I loved every minute and glad to find another author to put in my "must read" category.
I should read book descriptions more attentively. I went by star rating...oh, big mistake. I feel like my IQ went down after listening to this "masterpiece".
This book drew me in at times and had me bored at other times. The story itself isn't bad. Maybe it needed better editing? I get that this is a werewolf story. They are dominant. That word is used over and over and over in the book. I get it. They are dominant. But as a writer you should SHOW me instead of telling me over and over and over. And the sex scenes… so many of them… seriously, too many. They were redundant. The writer used the same words over and over and over again. See how annoying that gets? I finished the book but won’t be listening the next ones in the series.
Basically a predictable xxx story with shifters who were nymphomaniacs. I do not appreciate paying good money for a story I had figured out in a few short chapters. Could have done without the borderline abusive creepy sex. The plot, characters and basic shifter customs were a disappointment.
It was pulling teeth to finish this garbage book. It was nothing but a 10 hour shitty porno with no worthy storyline. I wish I had counted how many times the author said "cock" it was probably in the hundreds. Don't waste your time if you're looking for a good read or a fun story, this book is neither of those. Worst book I've ever finished, hands down.
